If anyone could help with some information, it would be a great help.

I recently purchased a somewhat sporterized Carl Gustaf Mauser 6.5x55.

It looks as if the stock is mostly intact. Some of the metal hardware from the barrel end, handguard and rear ladder sight. The sight was replaced with a Williams receiver peep sight, the barrel was tapped and fitted with a weaver rail.

The rifle definitely looks like a m94 carbine. The date stamp is 1905.

Im undecided on whether to do a restoration or to continue what the previous owner was doing and bubba it, but it hurts my soul.



It seems as if the stock was modified and the action to accommodate the Williams sight.

If i decide to complete the bubba, I would replace the stock with a Boyd's.

I also saw a slick mod on YT where some Swede converted it to take Magpul AICS long action mags.

Ive already purchased a Vortex Crossfire II 2-7x32 scout scope in the event I decide to complete the bubbaing.

Called Boyd's this morning. Apparently Swede Mausers fall under small ring and military barrel since it's a milsurp (duh).

Perhaps, but there are areas that are cut away that I don't like. If I could find a replica stock or new one I'd go that route.

The Boyd's stock was rather pricey at $227.

I really wanted to restore this M94, but it's looking really expensive for a new stock - $388.41 from prestigiouswoodstocks.com.

I'd need to get all the new hardware for the front end, the entire ladder sight and I'm not even sure if the front sight on it is original.

Not to mention the barrel has drill/tap holes in it for the weaver rail the previous owner installed on it.

I spent the better half of 3 hours removing the shit paint that was on the barreled receiver. I'm looking into maybe bluing it or maybe just polishing the bare metal.

What opinions on restoring it or just converting it fully to a deer gun?

After searching Libertytree, Sarco and Numrich i found that many of the parts not available. I've decided to turn it into a bubba.

There's nothing wrong with a well done sporterized milsurp. Especially if the work has already been started.

In the process of cold bluing. I put on four coats so far, I'm gonna let it dry up then take a #0 steel wool buffer wheel to it.

I'll probably give it 12 coats in total, I want a nice dark patina.



I have decided to try and salvage the stock. I'm gonna cut up some waste wood to get some saw dust and mix with epoxy to fill the cracks. Then on to sanding, finish it with some black water based stain and boiled linseed oil.

Elmers makes a wood filler that, in MHO, sands very well and takes stain good to boot. You could try the saw dust and epoxy, but the epoxy won't take color.

Correction, "won't take stain" ....there are dyes/colorants that can be added to epoxy to color it. I put new handles on a chefs knife and used a black dye to color the epoxy used to glue the wood to the tang

Had to end up ordering a stock from Boyd's. There was a split right down the stock forming

Got my AT One stock in from Boyd's. It required a good deal to fit and finish.

I had to cut out about 5mm where the magazine housing goes, a groove for the down turned bolt handle and about a 25mm x 3mm section to accommodate the Williams rear sight aperture.

It is a much nicer stock then the butchered sporterized stock it came with.

Ended up getting a new different safety switch. The one it came with was too large and it would snag on both stocks. It was from a Carl Gustaf but just different shaped, maybe from a different model rifle. Also purchased a repro firing pin since the original looked worn down.
