cartridge gauge

I want to reload .223 for strictly semi auto. multiple guns. Is a cartridge gauge a good choice for checking length/ set up? If so which? Lyman Dillon Hornady L.E. Wilson?

I just bought a lee for about $23 on either ebay or amazon. I have a Wilson for 6.8 spc. I think any are fine if made by a quality company.

Here's the stupid part..........how do I actually use it?

directions come with it - basically drop the resized case in and you will know if its over sized, undersized or goldilocks

A case guage is required equipment for reloading in my book. I just picked this up to speed up the process in loading competition ammo.

So.......drop it in AFTER decap/resize and if the boltface is above the lower shelf but NOT above the upper shelf it's sized right? Flip over and place on a flat surface and as long as the case isn't longer than the case gauge, gtg? correct? Just trying to K,I,S,S, if that's possible. Just trying to keep my face in 1 piece!
