When I was younger growing up on Long Island (late 70's), there was a period where there were numerous robberies in the 5 Towns area that were similar. People would be followed home in nice areas and when they pulled in their garage the criminals drove up the driveway and blocked them in. They were then robbed and they became known as "the driveway robberies."
