At present, China holds significant quantities of the world’s grain reserves. According to a report in the Nikkei Asia, by mid-2022, China is expected to hold 69 percent of the world’s maize (corn) reserves, 60 percent of its rice, 51 percent of the world’s wheat, and 37 percent of its soybeans. However, this was denied by the country’s foreign ministry.

It's hard to sell a "shortage" when you can walk into Sam's or Costco and see pallets of Sugar, Flour, Rice, etc.
When two Countries go to war, it suddenly becomes an opportune time to slip into that conflict that's been on the back burner.

Also heard on news this am that they (Chi-NA) has discovered some diseases on a tropical island off there cost and they plan to F*** with them to see about if humans can get them and stuff. We know how that worked out last time they messed around in a lab with a disease!!!!

It is scary just how fragile our supply lines are. The COVID ordeal proved just that. It seems we are always one incident away from disaster and yet we have little to no redundancy in our vital systems.
Six days the Ever Given was stuck; equated to massive delays everywhere...lets not forget about the deca of other Canals around the world...the English knew the value and cost of not having control of the Seas.
The past few years China has had some really bad luck with weather. Last year in the northern part of China there were devastating droughts. There were several major rivers that ran dry. Crops were hammered and the yields were crap. In the south-east part of China there was major flooding that also destroyed crops on a large scale. With that run of bad luck the prices for food started to go up. Just like in this country. Another factor was the flooding in Pakistan. Nearly 1/3 of the country was under water. Pakistan exports a lot of food to China. You can't export what you don't have. As a result of these factors China has been stockpiling food. I don't blame them one bit. If i were in the same boat i would do the same. Keep in mind when food prices go up in one part of this world they tend to rise everywhere else too.
Kind of throws a wrench into the notion that China has the Ability to control the weather...unless the conditions were by design.
It would seem Mother Nature has had a hard on for China the last few years.

So I listen to a lot of the economic news that comes out of China. My understanding is China is basically pist that we are holding back our high end lithography machines from them, used to make smaller chips. We're trying to handicap them technologically, so they are just pivoting like most countries against globalization. They aren't doing anything unique, they're trying to build up their economy internally with Built in China initiatives similar to popular-ism around "made in the USA."
Everyone is downplaying it but globalism is reversing right now, essentially.

Whatever happens, the West will start it. Likely some BS event with the narrative that it was someone else that started it. We saw this when they said the West would have to respond to Putin in Ukraine with nukes, which gave the impression Putin said something about using nukes. He didn't. It was all for show and to set a narrative for the public. It worked. So keep an eye out for a narrative of blame being teed up.
