China's Military Preparing for U.S. Intervention in Taiwan Strait
hina is readying itself for American and Japanese involvement in any Taiwan Strait conflict, with recent warplane exercises around the island aimed at displaying its ability to isolate Taiwan from potential support, according to analysts in Beijing and Taipei.

After 10 People's Liberation Army aircraft, including fighter jets and reconnaissance planes, flew sorties into Taiwan's air defense identification zone on Monday, a senior defense official in Taipei noted the "offensive posture" of the military exercise. Deputy Defense Minister Chang Che-ping described the waves of Chinese aircraft as part of a naval and air force "joint operation."
Flight patterns from the exercise appeared to show Taiwan surrounded on three sides, and the drill was a pointed message to the governments of Taiwan, Japan and the U.S., analysts said.

The Chinese military was "continuing to increase its combat preparedness by making its routine exercises more complex and realistic and taking possible U.S. and Japanese interventions into consideration," Communist Party newspaper Global Times reported on Tuesday.

I'm starting to wonder if russia will move on ukraine and crimea in the very near future, and then if near simultaneously china moves on taiwan.

We would be stuck in a no win situation where either we do nothing and look like a paper tiger or risk taking on both china and russia.

For the record my own .02 cents I want no part of the ukraine/russia conflict. Not our problem let them sort it out.

However I think china sooner or later will aggressively force our hand into a decision.



I like this video on china trying to become the global super power and the parallels of current day US to the ending of the british empire.

Near future? They are firing on each other for the last few days , Russia amassed an army on the Ukraine border, Ukraine delivered a preemptive strike on the Russians . Ukraine called on US and NATO for help. Looks like the US will leave them with thier dicks swinging in the breeze.

Nothing is what we should do folks. I don’t care. Biden will sit back and do nothing but I agree with that. I know it’s a dangerous chess game and if the world wants intervention then they should all do it together not 90% America and 1% of 10 other countries.

If China starts a shooting conflict with the United States, our government needs to bring in all of China's foes. That includes some such as India. Japan will absolutely be on the anti China side. You might be suprised who else may be as well.

Does it make a difference what Taiwan thinks? Serious question.

If a large city in the US decided to do what Taiwan is trying to do, there would be major push back for the State and Federal Governments.

China owns the land, it is theirs. Taiwan will lose. I hope the US stays clear of the mess.

I am asking, not as an insult...

do you understand, or have you ever read the history of the Island?

And, my US City analogy is actually spot on. The residents of the island of Taiwan, a city if you may, no longer wants to be part of China. China says tough shit. We own the land, it is ours.

It has never been ruled by the PRC. The last time it was governed by China was during the imperial era. And that's questioned as well.
And your missing one of Taiwan's highest priorities. It's not that they no longer wish to be part of China but to maintain and choose their government as they've had since the Japanese left.
And believe me, I understand the differences in the historical "facts" as China sees it vs what the Taiwanese want to maintain. I have family from there.

Maybe I have more to learn. I will read more on this subject. All I seek is knowledge.

Either way, I hope the US do not get involved at all. I would hope that no more of my money goes to assist and I really hope that none of our troops are ever put in harm's way for those people.

Ideally, we should stay out of it. It's a mess and no place to stick our nose.
And IMO, the only we could get involved is if the rest of the planet tells China to piss off and they all put equal skin in the game.
And that will never happen.

Because isolationism worked so well prior to WWII ?

*somebody* needs to maintain global order.

*somebody* will fill the role of the worlds policeman if we abdicate.

I do not think you will like a world run by any of the budding candidates.
