By who? I've never heard them referred to as "friends" by anyone seriously taking about them and not in active diplomatic duty.
I'm generally very pro-market forces but I agree with you here, that type of activity should be banned out of national security interest since China is a hostile adversary.

This is why I'm against consolidating power, in any form, in government. Or quite frankly consolidation of power in general. We should be frequently finding ways to keep consolidation from happening.
Also more reason why we should have more hyper local jurisdictions when it comes to governance, so people can live the way they want according to their values, and not be governed by metro areas that have nothing in common.

90% of the services you receive from government are provided by local government.
But 95% of the tax money you pay goes to state and federal government.
The state and federal government then dole that money back to the locals with endless strings attached, and after siphoning off most of it to their cronies.
We need a strict hierarchy in taxes. Each level of government should *only* be able to tax the ones below it.
States and feds can't tax individuals or businesses in the US, at all. Not 1 penny.
Import tariffs would unfortunately have to be allowed, but that's it.
The feds would get all their operating funds by taxing the states directly, and only the states.
The states in turn would only be able to tax localities (counties or incorporated cities).
Fees and Fines would still be allowed, but Fees can't be attached to exercise of a right, and he only remedy for someone who won't pay them would be to withhold the associated service.
Fines only in individual cases and with a court order.
