It sure sounds like he broke the law and used his position illegally. I'm not here to defend him. I tend to think ANYONE and EVERYONE who abused their power illegally deserves to,be held accountable.

It's wrong as hell that congressmen and senators become wealthy whoring out their positions as PUBLIC SERVANTS for personal gain. How exactly do so many elected officially all become multi millionaires with wealth exponential to their previous wealth and current salary????


Unfortunately my problem is the law is not equally applied to all.

I bet 75% of similar politicians do similar things but it's ignored and looked the other way because "they play ball".

Collins has been an outspoken trump supporter since day 1 and the deep state wants to make an example of him to further isolate trump and discourage his allies. Look at every person so far who has been a trump ally. Most of them are under some sort of investigation whether it's a fake witch hunt of not the implication is clear. If you support trump and are his ally the deep state will come for you.

Make no mistake, this is not a coincidence. This is not about collins. He's just the sacrificial lamb as a warning for anyone thinking of coming to trumps defense.

There really is a covert war between the deep state and what's left of the American reoublic.

Everyone better take note and make personal choices. (metaphorically speaking of course for elections and being involved in the peaceful political process)

I would do the same thing in his place. The law itself is idiotic. This is why I never bought a single share of stock. Who in their right mind wouldn't use any information to their advantage. Only a fool would invest in something with such uneven playing field.
Moreover he didn't make any money on this nor did his son. If my children were about to lose $700,000 I would make a call as well. We are not a COMMUNIST society, where people are obligated to put financial interests of the community above their own.
Hardly the best case to prosecute if the intent was to clean up the act of elected officials.

Quite a while ago he was asked about his stock market dealings by Wolf Blitzer, now if I were he and I was asked about something I was involved in by a reporter, I would see it as a heads up that someone was looking at what I was doing; for whatever reason he didn't. I suppose its just part of that upper echelon world they inhabit and he is of course innocent until proven guilty.

FBI can start an investigation without a directive from U.S. attorney's office and push for the case to be prosecuted. Hard to stop it, once the ball gets rolling and evidence is presented.

The timing of this is telling - after the primary but early enough that his opponent, who was a huge underdog, can club him with this for months. Don't forget, the alleged crime happened over a year ago. If I had to guess, this isn't the last Republican that will suddenly have serious legal troubles so close to the election. Tell me again, how many felonies does the average American commit per day?

Remember the huge spate of Republican retirements since Trump won? Something is going on here and it stinks. I suspect the efforts to flip the House (and possibly the Senate) extend way beyond the Democrat party.

And SHE is still free. I'd have zero issue with the Collins indictment if people like Her didn't get a free pass for crimes that have much more serious repercussions for the security of our country.

It's not actually money until you sell off your investment. The gain/loss is purely hypothetical until you actually sell.

Say you bought a Mosin decades ago for $50. What's it worth now assuming you took great care of it? 300ish? If someone finds a forgotten warehouse somewhere in the US with a million pristine Mosins tomorrow, you won't be able to get that $300 anymore. You still have the gun but you can't turn it into as much cash. Same thing with stocks.

Now assume that you know about this warehouse beforehand and know that it is on the verge of being discovered. You sell your Mosin quick for $300 based on knowledge you had of a likely change in the market. Most gun owners and buyers didn't have this knowledge so you had an advantage and used it to turn your gun (i.e. stock share) into cash right before the price drop. The guy you sold it to still thinks it'll be worth close to $300 tomorrow and is the one getting screwed by the price drop that you know is coming. In the world of securities, this type of activity is insider trading and it's illegal.

It used to be totally legal for congressmen , but the law changed in 2015 .
