Sorry kid, in NY you have to first attend a Handgun Safety course where it is forbidden for you to touch a real handgun. That will set up back about a hun. Then drive downtown and pick up an application, That will cost you 5 bucks in parking.
Then after filling out the application and stating why in the hell you "need" a license to carry concealed, you have to drive again to four references and have them fill out and sign their information so the cops can interview them. Depending on where you live they have to live in your town, and you have to have known them for at least 5 years. That will cost you in gas and vehicle depreciation.
then you have to have your signature notarized. A little more cost.
Now put five bucks in your pocket and drive back downtown to drop off the application.
Oh By the way, when is Christmas.

OH Yeah! I forgot to mention, If you are approved, you have to then drive to a gun store, select a handgun which you can now touch. pay for it and the gun store will give you a slip of paper. Take that paper to downtown along with the parking money and a few bucks extra to pay for the recording of the serial number and issuance of a Permit card. Now you can drive back to the gun store and show them the card and they will allow you to have your Glock.
However, some of the geniuses in Albany want to add a five-day waiting period.

I believe that the article referenced that it would be set in the 70’s , that would put Ralphie in his early 40’s as the original movie was set in December of 1940 when Ralphie was 9 yrs. old .
