Cigarette smoking lands New Square man in court

A New Square man was ordered to appear in court for being caught smoking a cigarette with kids in the car.

Ramapo police pulled over the driver along West Eckerson Road for driving without headlights. But they wound up citing the 73-year-old for subjecting children to cigarette smoke. Police say smoke billowed from the car when the driver rolled down the window.

So let me say this, Our Police department is the best, they are about doing the impossible jobs, Whom ever made this arrest had to be new to the force as most of the resident of New Square and there relative who have taken over the town of ramapo are normally off limits to persecution , prosecution lest our PD would be called racist by our bias judges , Also the normal MO is for them to go on the offensive immediately filing large expensive to defend Law suits. That why they are off limits to prosecution , Like wrestling with a PIG , you might win but your going to be covered in shit and no one will want to be near your afterwards . All that being said I feel Our government is overreaching with this law ,this is never what the intent of our government was meant to be,And yes it was meant to protect the poor children, but this is not what our government is supposed to do , Whats Next? And may I say I am not a fan of the resident of New Square

i can say this .. I smoke .. live in a trailer and smoke in it .. its MINE LOL ..aprox 750 Sq foot .. the kitten i got lived to a good old age of like 15 yrs .. inside house cat .. kidneys failing from the vet .. not the lungs from 2nd hand smoke .. when she passed ..

I think everyone in that car had a higher risk of death from just riding in the car on the roads then from some smoke ..

are cats immune from tobacco and vape smoke ??

I'm disgusted that a politician actually passed this and I'm disgusted that a Jack Booted Thug actually enforced this.

when was really really young and growing up .. Christmas at Grams was a blue haze of smoke .. I'm still here

I agree with you 100 percent I guess you have seen how a resident of New Square drives, I don't think I have every seen one of there cars with NO damage

We cant have it both ways, Again WHAT IS NEXT! Cant play with the music too loud in a car with the kids, Cant listen to a certain type of music, this law is not a good law and was pushed thru in a feel good measure.

I don't advocate for a nanny state. The problem with doing nothing in this situation is not the same as all the various gun laws on the books 'for the sake of the children'. Smoking in an enclosed car is akin to pointing a gun at a child, pulling the trigger and hoping you miss the target.

Second hand smoke is repulsive and disgusting for a non smoker. Subjecting a child, who has no ability to stop this seriously potential health risk (over time), is not only irresponsible but IMO should be criminal.

This “reeks” of someone talking themselves into a summons. Regardless of what certain perps think, there’s times when otherwise agenda-approved cops will use the tools - no matter how stupid they are like this one - that have been provided them to protect the uniform.

There were times in the past when I reached deep to find violations for people who basically begged/dared us for one.

If that’s not the case here, then I’d “reinstruct” any cop writing such stupid infractions. But if ole’boy asked it, good. He should’ve gotten one for each child.

My best was a lady from Virginia who held up a whole lane of traffic to make a U-turn right under a no U-turn sign.

When I pulled her over, she berated me for a few minutes then refused to give me her registration because Virginia’s plates have expiration dates on them, so “you don’t need it and I don’t have to by law”. I said, “no problem ma’am. I will copy your number and expiration date straight from the plate, but I’ll be doing it onto every ticket I can think of.” She got 7 and I won each in court. I quit the nasty smoking habit over 40 years ago. Tobacco smoke I find revolting. I wouldn't smoke with a child in the car. However I don't think "there oughta be a law."
