The City of Albany Common Council will hold a Public Safety Committee meeting on Tuesday, February 20 at 5:30pm to discuss Resolution 9.12.24R calling upon the state legislature to implement a Gun Violence Hotline and “consider toughing laws regarding the use and possession of illegal handguns.”

Ummm....violence would seem to necessitate a 911 call, regardless of the modality of the violence.

Are stabbings and slashings "knife violence?"

Is hit-and-run "automobile violence?"

Is drowning "water violence?"

Is falling from a building "gravity violence?"

Is strangling "rope violence?"

Violence is an action. There must be an actor that engages in an action. Firearms, of their own volition, cannot engage in any action. Ergo, we do not need control of objects, we should demand control of criminals.
