Co Ownership of Handguns

I am wondering if anyone in Oneida County has went through the process of obtaining co owndership of handguns with another permit holder outside of Oneida County, particularly in Herkimer County and what they did/where they went first to start.

I recall reading something regarding Oneida county and how you can only co own with someone in this county but I can not remember exactly.

I have never heard that about the same residence, as BulletGuy said I don't think that is true.

We basically want to have someone's handguns put on my permit so when they ultimatley pass away they do not have to be surrendered to the PD and I can just take possession of them.

Go do it. I have several different people from different addresses co-permitting my pistols.

I haven' t looked at the form yet.

1. I have heard that make/model/caliber has to be entered?
2. I understand the State Police issue re certification cards?

Yes the State Police on the recertification form asks if the pistols are coregistered that is a fact. They don't ask with whom it is coregistered
You can ask me how I know but I am sure you guys can figure that out
Also make sure the judges in your area will coregister.
I was able to coregister quite a few pistols with my fiance under one address since we live together
Rensselaer county pistol permit clerk personally told my fiance that at this point no coregistration will be issued until further notice. That was week and half ago

Ya I dont think I would have an issue with Herkimer Co. But Oneida county is a different animal it seems. I'll have to call/ stop in there or ask next time I buy a pistol.

As with all the other bullshit rules that county judges impose on PP holders, this seems to be different from county to county. my county changed several years ago from, you could co own with other PP holders to, you can ONLY co own with others living in the same residence.

Yupp it is rediculous in this state. I'm a peace officer also, not sure if that helps. I know it doesn't for a "unrestricted" CCW per the clerk...Just nuts lol.

I hear you. However, according to the pistol permit office here, if you add it to her permit (CO-reg) then it is community property and if divorce proceedings go through, it adds even more power to the usual 50/50 split.

Ownership is actually the best representation of the fact, it would then cause issues as to any attempt at seizure of property when the one owner is to surrender a weapon. The other rightful owner would have the right to petition the property be kept by them if need be, or just have it in the first place.

Co-Registration would simply constitute either party being able to possess.

Good point. Probably why my county only allows those that live together. And MAYBE a related by blood or marriage. Can't recall that part.

i know that in Sullivan Co co-registration is up to the Judge issues the amendment, i know a few people that have them for working reasons, Armed gaurds and company owned handguns.
as well as direct family members that have then on each others permits and do not live in the same house Father and Son type

I have read if the make is not found on the e-mail recert you can put other?

The NFA guys do it with trusts or corporations, anyone tried that in NY ?

Co-Registration with more that one person! Anyone anyone - Buhler? Buhler? Example: Wife - daughter - son in law etc. Just sayin.

Mine are co registered with my wife. Depends on the county what the rules are.
