Colorado School Bans Teen After Going to a Shooting Range With Mother, Even After Police Clear Him

According to the Second Amendment Group “Rally for Our Rights,” Justine Myers picked up her 16-year-old son Nate early from school in order to take him to go target shooting as a way to bond with her son.

Nat had apparently posted a couple of videos from his cell phone to social media displaying the guns he was going to be shooting with, and his mother instructing him while he fired them at the range.
After the two had come home from the range, police arrived at their door, having gotten reports that Nate was a potential threat due to his posting firearms online.

After viewing the videos, police determined that the Myers family had done nothing illegal, were using legally owned firearms, and that Nate was not a threat to anyone. As “Rally for Our Rights” states, that should have been the end of it, but things only went downhill from there.

The only way to combat this is to overwhelm it.

Invite every kid in the school to the range, in small groups if necessary. Encourage them all to post lots of pics.

Once you have 20% of the student body with gun pics on their Facebook or whatever, send in anonymous reports about *all* of them, just not at once.

Are they going to suspend 20% of the students in the school ?

Give them so many things to investigate that the whole thing collapses. They will be forced to implement some mechanism to vet the complaints for sanity.

You have to choke the system on it's own stupidity.

Same thing for any red flag law that allows anonymous complaints.

Whether the school did something legal or not is not the issue.
This kid will have this incident over his head for years. He will always be known as "the dangerous threat kid".
The school sent an email to all parents saying this kid may be a threat to their kids.
That sounds like slander too me.....but im not a lawyer.

School officials also cautioned Nate to not post these types of activities on social media. Justine quickly reminded them that this is his First Amendment they’re talking about, and although she gets their point, that is a dangerous slope they’re heading down.

Is it over for Nate? The good news is nothing permanent will go on his school record and he can continue his education. But he’s undoubtedly been traumatized by the entire situation and now will have a “reputation” at school. He’ll also have the thought police living in his own head every time he wants to share anything that isn’t lock-step with PC culture. And at 16 years old, he’s had his civil rights violated for participating in not one, but two, constitutionally protected activities – shooting guns and sharing a video of it.

May not be on his permanent record, but once on the internet; it is forever!
