Armed home invasion in Columbia County
ANCRAM – The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed home invasion robbery in which three men, armed with weapons.

Two people were assaulted. The robbers attempted to detain the third victim with duct tape. A fourth victim escaped and went to a nearby neighbor to call police.

The victims defended themselves and fought off the attackers. One of the male victims suffered lacerations to his face and was transported to Albany Medical Center by Community Rescue Squad where he was treated and later released.

Well, I'm no expert but there is a difference between certain drugs and how they work the human body.

Drugs like marijuana or psychedelic mushrooms are not physically addictive in the way that opium-based drugs are, as one example.

On one hand I think that marijuana should be legalized and taxed like cigarettes and alcohol. However, I don't believe drugs like heroin, crack, cocaine or meth should ever be legalized.

Those drugs in my opinion, are way too hard and the Damage that they do is incredible. Some might argue that what people do to their own body is their own business, and I agree to apoint ( to the point where their addiction affects the lives of others). However, these drugs are so highly addictive and destructive that it leads to people committing crimes to feed the addiction.

And again, I am not an expert on drugs or law making so this is just a common citizens opinion on how I see things.

Thats an old school thought.Back in the 60's and 70's marijuana was cheap,like $50 an ounce,there was very little violent crime associated with the trade.Prices have increased to over $400 an ounce and gangs have taken hold of the drug trade and violent crime ensued.In this case,from the statement I quoted in my last post,it would seem to me this was probably a "victimless crime"if the house in question was targeted because of drug use/trade at the location.

Cannabis is not a drug ..... it's an herb. Also with MANY healing powers. Just like many herbs. Drugs are manufactured. Marijuana is a dirty mexican word.
The feds just decided to classify it as a drug. It wasn't prohibited until the mid 30s.

If drugs/hard drugs were legalized a lot of tax payer's moneys would be freed up for more important addenda. The jails would have many empty cells, police would be freed up to attend other matters, the courts would not have to spend tax dollars to press charges ..... and on and on .....

If our borders are secured drugs could easily be kept at bay. We have the technology to put things and people in space .... we can sure as hell keep the drugs out. Parents would be forced to teach their children right from wrong. Not saying there are not good parents but many live off the system with provided tax dollars, and leave the complete education of their children up to others. There would be no black market for it.This is all a huge portion of the corruptness of our government.

Lastly the defiant ones who insist on doing these dangerous drugs would end up weaning themselves out of the populaces.

It should be on the shelves a couple miles from me in Mass sometime this year.Wont be any cheaper than the "black market",if it is cheaper the street dealers will lower their prices to stay in the game.
