The National Rifle Association’s latest effort to abolish gun safety laws has reached a new level of absurdity — and danger. The group’s New York affiliate is challenging a law that doesn’t even exist, in hopes of wiping out lots of commonsense laws around the country that do exist. And Monday, the group’s extreme position is getting a hearing in front of the U.S. Supreme Court.
The stakes couldn’t be higher. And if ever there were a case that the Supreme Court should flatly reject, this is it.
At issue is a New York City regulation that is no longer on the books. The regulation (enacted by the Police Department before I served as mayor) restricted gun owners from transporting their guns to shooting ranges outside the city. It imposed an unnecessary restriction on gun owners’ ability to visit ranges — and it was rightly rescinded. In fact, the state adopted a law prohibiting any locality from adopting a similar rule. And that should’ve closed the case. But the NRA wouldn’t take “yes” for an answer.
Although the case is clearly moot, lawyers for the NRA will try to convince the Supreme Court on Monday that it should proceed. Why? It’s simple: They hope the court will use it as an opening to wipe out basic gun safety laws around the country.
It's not like they repealed the law because they all of a sudden had a moment of clarity.
They didn't say, oh' you know what... This law is clearly unconstitutional and therefore we will repeal it.
No... They never would of repealed the law in the first place if the SCOTUS didn't take the case.
They repealed the law in an attempt to make the case moot, knowing full well that they would probably lose.
They are just trying to protect the other unconstitutional "people control" laws already in place.
Buy you all already knew that... Just Sayin'
Democrats probably blatantly lie to their own kids.
That's all they do is lie and twist and spin the facts to serve their purpose...
They are a bunch of losers with no integrity what so ever.
It's always "the end justifies the means" with these bastards.

Mikey is covering and Lying!
the NYC Gun control nuts don't want a SCOTUS ruling. if there is not a ruling they can bring back their shitty laws and the Court could make a larger blanket ruling that could impact NYC gun laws.
I agree. They are using the same defensive strategy they always used and nothing proactive.
Like put these antigun goons on the spot. For example lets say ok lets talk about background checks but also about your so called gun free zone and how they are different from a real gun free zone like an airport or a cout house and they are going to get more people killed.
A big campaign to Make those SOBs eat their absurd logic.
