I have a Bergara rifle that is based off the Remington 700 action and I need to shorten the LOP to fit me properly. I would rather buy a compact stock than cut the existing wood stock. Anyone have a recommendation or history with a compact stock to fit a Remington 700 short action?

As @Vantrepes suggest Boyds have a good selection, I have a few myself. Also you may checkout Magpul Hunter for the 700, I have one on a 10/22.

I looked at Boyd's for a stock for my Howa mini action. I talked with a lot of others that went with them. Some finally got theirs to work after some degree of fitting. Some gave up and moved on.
I already had a reservation about them when they refused to ship an AR handguard to NY saying it was restricted.
Personally, I would look at Bell and Carlson. That's where I ended up getting my Howa stock. Perfect drop-in fit from day one.

I have six Boyd’s stocks on Rem 700 short actions. Two on Muzzle loaders, two heavy barrel, two standard factory barrel contour (lightweight barrels). Three are AT1 adjustable. All dropped in and bolted up. My brother has four or five. All dropped in.
I’m aware of a couple people who needed minor sanding on inside barrel channel to free float.
I’m not aware of anyone ever having to give up on a Boyd’s stock unless they ordered wrong stock.
