Pretty much! Being poor sucks and the more it sucks the more motivation you have to NOT be poor, Gvmt and all the programs has removed that motivation.
Companies are laying off workers at an alarming pace

All jobs at target now start at $18/hour and certain jobs are up to $24/hour that are hard to fill.
Don’t worry when the recession hits they will all get laid off and replaced with cheaper labor.

Many are doing this. Some are have success and others aren’t. Walmart tried a cleaning robot, but went back to people because the tech just wasn’t there yet.
Plenty of jobs in the IT field. About a million unfilled jobs.
It's a vicious cycle.
People have so many choices on job openings and where to work (or just not work and live off the gov), so employers have to keep raising wages to try and be more competitive to attract functioning breathing humans to their jobs. Before you know it they are spending twice as much on labor and now have to raise prices. Consumers think it sucks so they'll spend less money at their businesses. Inflation continues, revenues fall. The cycle worsens.

Probably saving those for foreign worker visas. Pay them less and they're happy to do it

Not for IT, but this is what my last company did and it saved them a good bit of money since salaries are much lower in France and most workers never looked. You’d pay some one $40,000/year for a $90-$100,000/year job. That’s part of the reason I left since I never saw them promoting me while this practice continued and why would they end it?
