I’m sure the state paid them up front. I do get costs have risen since the pandemic but not 50%. Maybe the state should pay the increased costs of materials. But then again a contract is a contract so…

The T-way authority, the Dormitory Authority and other authorities and divisions are off budget and the source of billions in political dark money.

Know what the State pays for computers? The State does not.............for example. 10k per work station is typical.

Got threatened with several tickets for this once. It's one police interaction I will never forget.

I had driven for several hours after a hurricane down south and there was no power anywhere. I finally pulled off on a huge exit ramp. In the act I see lights flashing on the trees out in front of me. This cop didn't care that there was nothing open to actually use a bathroom. About 11pm and I had seen about 2 cars in the last hour. He was just there for my safety though.

Check the price of copper wire, steel pipe, etc., I'm sure they are hurting.
Plus, the materials used on government jobs are much better than residential; stone, real wood, etc., the gov still builds like it will last 80 yrs. only they rebuild every 25-30 yrs.
Me personally, I just need a pisser/shitter, fuel, snack. Not 5 lotto machines, propaganda murals and the other bs they put in "brought to you by gov xyz" .

I'd say it's not our problem. I'm sure the owner of Applegreen is loaded. They signed the deal, they should dig into their own pocket to finish the project.

Prices are high, so is scrap price. Wonder if the state PAID to have all the copper disposed of? What about all the stainless-steel fixtures and even those huge wooden beams, all worth money and where did it go?

The irony is I travel a fair amount so I compare different places. Most every single state I've ever been in has a very nice well maintained "welcome center" within 2 miles of crossing the state line on an interstate highway. The vast majority are non toll roads.


Do you know the only state I can think of off the top of my head that doesn't have a welcome center? Th I-90 heading east from PA into NY there is no welcome center or rest are until like 50 miles into the state in Angola. And it's a toll road that you're paying to drive on. If that doesn't tell you NY priorities nothing will.

Rund down rt-10 or rt-40, just a disaster, and rest stops are anywhere from 40 to 90 miles apart.

I took 90, 79, route 19, 77 south and at some point in Pa you stop seeing potholes. Most of the roads I have been on seem to get better outside of NY.

I've only been on I-20 in SC so not sure about west into LA

Which roads, exactly? I live near the PA border. You know, where there's tons of gas drilling. You can tell when you cross the border into PA because you stop hearing the ba-bump ba-bump ba-bump of NY's shitty roads.
