Comped pistol

Ok so I am just spitballing here throwing out some ideas I have had.

I get that thanks to the unsafe act a semi auto pistol with a detachable magazine cannot have a threaded barrel "capable of accepting barrel extender, flash suppressor, forward handgrip or silencer

1st as i type that out it doesn't say anything about compensators but the fact that it would still be a threaded barrel and many of those are the same thread pattern as a compensator

2nd it doesn't say anything about a compensator being a no go on the handgun (think 1911 with bushing mounted compensator) and nothing about not able to have a ported barrel

So I'm thinking one could be ok if say they had a smith perm. attach a compensator onto a threaded barrel which would then make it part of the barrel and effectively making it a longer ported barrel if anything.

Down side yes I get that the barrel would be perm. Stuck inside the slide (picture a glock 17/19 with one of those let's day TBRC micro comp as an example)

Is it ideal fuck no, but the gun can still be broken down enough for regular cleaning and if it eventually no longer wanted cut the barrel and put in the oem barrel.

Ported barrel and slide is a work around. Or just a longer barrel that is ported.

Just have the porting in the barrel and side. Glock C models.

For those that have done this, does it make the muzzle rise less? Is is noticeable?

Also as for let's say a traditional ported barrel vs a compensator. The compensator mitigates much more of the recoil

With the 10mm it does.

If they didn't fire when dropped or were the size of a 26, I might consider one.

Well the X five doesn't fire when dropped. Just take the fire control group and put it in a 320 subcompact frame

I had a Glock, 40S&W, long slide compensated model about 20 years ago. I bought it for my 2nd wife, she liked it. It seemed to tame the muzzle jump enough for a small statured woman to handle. I got rid of it about 17 years ago.

I bought a stainless 357mag Rossi 971 that had the compensated barrel about seventeen years ago and liked it so much i just bought another.
Love shooting them both and they are accurate.

I figured a comp would just be a PITA to clean, slow down disassembly, rattle around once you strip the threads. Practical stuff like that.

I don't get what you mean.

Also wait slow down disassembly? Are you being shot at when taking the gun apart?

Not to mention their would be no threads tech. since the comp would be perm. attached to the barrel due to here in NY threaded barrels on a pistol are not legal

If you were to ever do this why not just lathe down a brake to be concentric with the barrel so it slides right out.

It would just seem stupid to go through al of this work and not do something simple like that to solve the biggest drawback.

I did check their stuff out a while back when I was carrying my chopped 17, and that would be sweet
