Increasing taxes and cost is never the answer. Increasing efficiency and reducing costs is always the way to go. People will leave and it will always be because of the weather not asshole politicians enacting asshole laws and fees.

Supporters say that it is a proven method that reduces traffic, enhances public transportation and improves air quality since there are less vehicles on the road. The congestion pricing proposal in New York City would manage Midtown traffic congestion using tolls. In his statement, Cuomo said that congestion pricing "will play a critical role as New York and the nation begin to recover from the pandemic and build back stronger and better than before."

That's a fancy phrase for Socialist Control and Manipulation.

The free bridges will be tolled with plate readers, everyone pays except those who don't. Big problem even on the already tolled crossings. People who never use a bridge or tunnel still pay when registering a vehicle in NY! 9-11 taxes added per gallon of gasoline 20 years ago are still there... Not sure what it's paying for... And the POTUS want $4 Trillion now for economic stimuli... Started at $2 Trillion and it's grown since and will continue to grow without restraint!

It was fun to visit, but at no point during my nearly decade working everywhere from Midtown to Soho did I ever have the illusion it wasn't a cesspool.

Maybe it was the homeless guy who always wore the same sweat pants every day, as he would piss himself daily in grand central in the subway. (You could smell him from the moment you hit the stairs or the tunnel past Rite-Aid on the way down there .. it was that strong.)

Or maybe it was the time I saw a guy pull his dick out randomly in the middle of the street and take a piss right outside of Wall St -- in the middle of the street.

Or maybe it's the self absorbed attitude of everyone down there.

Regardless, I'm done with being down there. I took the paycut to avoid the city. I intend to never go back if I can afford to.

They all remove money from the productive and reward the non productive.

They underlying conceit of the socialists is that with the right scheme they can somehow make this "fair".

This has been the blueprint for this state as long as I can remember. Raise taxes so high people look for greener pastures. Tax the remaining citizens to make up for the loss. Make the exodus grow at an exponential rate. Raise and repeat. Add to it a climate and laws unfriendly to growth, freedom, and accepted common sense to sweeten the deal. Raise and repeat.
