The hosting market is pretty darn free IMO. There are thousands of data centers worldwide. The Taliban has websites online. Stormfront (legit Nazi/supremacists) are online. Westboro Baptist church, they're online. Etc. Not saying parler is like them, just that if these places can find hosting so can parler.

You can get Dell cards cheap and flash them to an HBA. Most of them are just rebranded LSI cards. Heck I even used the official LSI firmware. That's what I used in my local NAS.

I used to use official LSI cards at work years ago. I forgot the command but you could light up the drives in the bays for the datacenter guys to pull them out. Those were fun days. Literally light up an entire room remotely so they knew exactly the drives to hot swap.

Datacenter guy was a real wise guy. He would always go out to Singapore a lot for the datacenter we had there. I would ask him why he was going and not the guys under him, considering he was the manager and he had kids and a wife. He would reply, without missing a beat, "I hate my wife. You know that."

Yes but what we are witnessing are monopolies with great power. Businesses are being destroyed with that power. But then again, The market will correct itself I guess and people will leave the Twatters/Fakebook.

It would cost *Trillions* of dollars to build a new Twitter.

The infrastructure would be easy, it's the users that's impossible to accomplish.

I doubt even the feds have deep enough pockets to pull it off.

Oh, I entirely agree. If I was running twitter or whatever I wouldn't have banned him, not my call though.

I don't think anyone reasonable is saying what they did was *criminal* per se.

Just that they should lose their sec 230 immunity over it.

If they have immunity from lawsuits because it would be impossible to exercise editorial control over their platform, then they turn around and exercise editorial control over their platform it raises the question "Why were they granted special immunity from lawsuits again ?"
