Almost across the finish line...the SC Senate passed it today albeit with a couple of RINO's trying to kill it with poison pill amendments. The Bill is slightly different than the Bill the House passed, but Governor McMaster says he will sign it if it gets to his desk.

My fingers are crossed. And if it does, you guys coming down here to go to the beach will be happy.

I have not reviewed the exact text yet, but I have read it would also allow those 18 years old, down from 21 to carry. Also, not clear yet, but I expect that anyone in SC will be able to carry openly, including non SC residents? (Whereas right now you can only carry here if you have an SC CWP, - either as a resident of SC, or own property here.)

So, looks as though non felons coming here to go to the beach or to golf, will now be able to carry in SC if this gets signed into law.

Excellent. Wife was just down there earlier this week. Also, it’s quite gratifying that the majority of the states now are Constitutional Carry.

It's not "Constitutional Carry". They are calling it "Permitless Carry". If you read the text, they are changing it so where you can turn into a felon with 10 years in prison in certain restricted areas that once was a non-felony if accidentally brought in with a SC gun permit prior to this bill.

About the best way to explain it.

Even in the freer states, gotta watch the wording of these new laws. Tennessee for example, has permit-less carry. There is also a permit process for those that want one. The enhanced pistol permit does allow additional ways and places to carry.

As an example... In Tennessee, With the Enhanced Carry Permit, you can carry in, or on the grounds of any public park, playground, nature area, historic park, nature trail, campground, forest green-way, waterway, civic center, or other building facilities, location, or other similar public place or property owned, used or operated by the state, a county, a municipality, or instrumentality of the state, a county, or city so long as these areas are not being used for school activities or sports. Also, with an Enhanced Carry Permit, you may carry within or on property designated by the federal government as a national park, forest, preserve, historic park, military park, trail, or recreation area.

In addition, with an Enhanced Carry Permit, you can carry in buildings posted with Concealed Firearms by Permit Only signs.

With the Enhanced in Tenn, 37 States recognize the permit.

Well, today seems to be a good day in the 2A world down here in the South. First, Louisiana's Governor, Republican Jeff Landry signed their Constitutional Carry Bill into law, and I read that it will take effect on July 4th, 2024. LA is now the 28th Constitutional Carry state.

Here in SC, the conference committee took up our Constitutional Carry Bill to resolve the differences between the House and Senate versions. It went for about an hour, and as I watched it, it seems to me like this will get done in spite of the Mom's Demand asswipes and their fellow anti 2A comrades.

As I understand it, Louisiana's new law changed the handgun owning age to 18, - and SC's lowers the age to 18 as well if it gets passed and signed into law. One additional item I heard in the hearing about the SC proposed law is that for those of us who choose to get an SC CCW permit for reciprocity reasons (which I did), is that it would make them lifetime validity, and repeal the 5 year renewal process! SC SLED would then run a new background check every 5 years, but the CCW holder would have to do nothing. No fees either.

For any of you out there that want to see an example of the idiocracy that is our governing politicians in operation, I recommend that you go online and watch the absolute stupidity on display in the SC Senate today as they "debate" the Constitutional Carry Bill.

The Senator leading the shitshow against the Bill is Senator Margie Bright Matthews, and her sidekick, Senator Mia McCloud, who repeatedly goes on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on with her Howdy Doody puppet routine spouting off with "And did you know...?" literally dozens and dozens of times while spewing absolute nonsense.

It will be amazing if they ever do get this Bill passed.

While true... Driving is a privilege, but TRAVEL is a Right (commerce clause). So on that basis...

The point is most of these Constitution States allow for the 'Permit' process and possession for the purpose of 'Recipriosity' in other State jurisdictions that recognize them.

It is not an undermining situation to create an avenue to allow your residents their ability to exercise their Rights outside your jurisdiction... They are Shall Issue States as well, those Constitution Carry that do this...

Not undermining the Constitution States at all, but once and for all, the LAW would undermine the States that will not allow it's citizens or visitors, the ability to travel armed freely, absent worry about bullshit reciprocity! With a National LAW creating the fact that if your good in one jurisdiction, you MUST be accepted in all others! I don't see a downside...

In my opinion, one fell swoop to do away with all the bullshit! Constitution Carry will still rule the day!

Problem is, the SCOTUS has recently made some rulings fortifying State Sovereignty... So that could factor in later if such a law was passed and then challenged but some Butt Hurt States. Overall though, SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED, those explicit words need to be recognized... And so far 29 have recognized that!

Based on the Original Purpose formulary used in Bruen... Early in our founding, did States prevent the transportation of arms between them? Did the territories exhibit border checks and disarm those heading West? Was manifest destiny ok but you went and claimed your land empty handed ... Or did you arm yourself for protection? Unless you were a Quaker of course. Religion overruled Man's Law... Lol

I don't see a National Reciprocity Law as problematic. I don't see it as trampling those States who have already recognized it's resident/citizens 2A Rights. I would see it as an extension of those States, effectuating a National Trend and trampling those Restrictive Jurisdictions in a way that they have no control over, and THAT would make my day!
