The state Legislature will consider a controversial bill next year that would allow illegal immigrants to apply for a driver’s license — and Gov. Andrew Cuomo will sign it if it passes, the governor’s office said.

Alphonso David, Cuomo’s legal counsel, disclosed the plan during a panel discussion last week at the New York Hispanic Legislators’ postelection conference.

That is the principal reason for this legislation. They aren't even trying to hide it. The DMV asks you if you'd like to register to vote on the spot, remember motor-voter? The Blue Donkeys are set to get a huge influx of voters, who can't realistically be challenged because ZOMG I HAVE A DRIVERS LICENSE HOW DARE YOU QUESTION ME!

The great irony (at least I see it that way) is that NY is fighting to end insurance for gun owners via the NRA Carry Guard policies but will have no issues with issuing car insurance to those in this country illegally. How the hell is either one of those ok?
