How effective do you think these masks are ? They are obviously not 100% effective, and they probably do provide some slight non-zero effect for the reasons you have stated, but what % do you think it is ?
Let's say you have a normal close social interaction with an infected person. You're going to have some very small % chance of getting infected. Over the course of enough of those interactions the % rises to a concerning level.
How much do you think a mask reduces that ?
How much would it need to in order to justify the effort ?
Is it better than standing 1" further away ? 1' ?
What makes you think so ?

I do not know actual numbers. I cannot tell you it’ll be 6.387 and 3/4’s of a % so that you can say “Gotcha!”. But what I can tell you is what every medical professional can tell you is that masks stop droplets. Inhaled droplets are the major pathway to infection. Full stop.
Masks do not stop all droplets depending on the material and the fitment, but they stop droplets. Those that escape will not travel as far as those that will without a barrier to escape from. That’s why distance from another is another factor. Also, viral load also determines whether you get infected or not. Your viral load required for infection isn’t the same as mine. Less droplets, less viral load.
Like it or not, science is science. If the majority of droplets are captured, the viral load is less in the air.
Try to be objective. I realize it won’t play into your MO, but let’s be real here. In the beginning, I was wrong. I thought that masks stopped the healthy wearer from getting infected. Upon further research and attending a virtual town hall with the head doctor of one of the biggest hospitals in Orange County, I found out that I was wrong. I am man enough to admit that I was wrong.
