Correcting course

Just some food for thought, and this is quite a broad thread, but I think we have to start giving some serious thought, regardless of if Trump wins or loses, regarding how to correct course on this country. Make no mistake, it's on a course down a dangerous path for our freedoms and our property.

To be clear, I'm not talking about -- in any way, shape, or form -- violence. I'm talking about getting serious about organizing, and not just being armchair warriors. We need to brainstorm what is driving this push towards police state socialism, and how we can correct course from that path. What actions can we take that may make a serious difference in our lives. That's what we have to identify, and execute.

I'll throw out one major issue I think is driving this push to extremist socialism:

"How do we ensure our children are being instilled with the values we believe in?"

As someone who first hand witnessed the very agenda driven teaching which prospective teachers are being... "taught" at the college level, I can say that this is definitely a problem that needs to be addressed. It's not a 100% sure thing you'll come out promoting the leftist agendas which are pushed at the graduate level, but it's definitely emphasized to teachers. How do we prevent this agenda from being pushed on our children? What can do to ensure our children understand the values of free speech, freedom of person and property, and freedom to own firearms?

Agree. Pointed out to me today in an email thread is that the right tends to just sit around and espouse their views, whereas the left physically extends them. It dawned on me (and hopefully I'm wrong) that the viewpoint of the right may be inherently predisposed to not assertively sharing it. There are exceptions like the war of independence, but if your essential philosophy is to leave people alone and ask for the same, you're not going to go out with molotov cocktails so quickly and start burning shit. The left on the other hand has a no-tolerance view; they are absolutely against freedom of speech or anything different, and such an intolerance inherently lends itself to forceful expression.

However, there are other means of being forceful that don't include violence. Those are the means on the table: economic and social means. These are means I'm advocating. Pressures that aren't violence. Tactical non-violence.

I'm not the best with typed words but I'll take a shot at it. I don't think we can right the ship for two basic reasons.

1. Our personal philosophy. Most conservatives, republican's and libertarians believe their philosophies are correct. Now this is where we differ from the other side, although we believe we are correct the other side is allowed to have a differing of opinion. The other side does not think that way. In their mind the people that have differing opinions are either evil (i.e. racist, homophobic, ect.) or unintelligent.

Therefore we as a group naturally do not force our opinions or beliefs on to other people. The results are multifaceted. We appear weak, not passionate, timid about our beliefs. Also this facilitates our continuing loss of indoctrination in the schooling system from pre-k to the highest college education.

The left benefits from this by claiming the moral and physical high ground. It's ok to trample evil peoples rights, speech, property and person. They've been doing this for a long time. Look how the touted Bush Jr. was retarded (in all fairness they might have been right), but that's the believe of all of the right.

2. Government entitlements. They are never going away period! So essentially we are screwed. Anyways I will layout the heart of the argument but keep in mind there is vastly more to this than I care to type.

We pay people to lose! Think about it really think about it. We don't help people get bye or get a head we are taking care of losers...... OMG the mean and horrible conservative with no heart, I don't care. I'll take it a step farther we pay for the losers to breed! That's right we are actively making the movie ideocracy come true. Because of this fact we will reach a tipping point where the system collapses.

Personally I think they wanted it to happen already. It got slowed down because of the American dream. Enough people took advantage of the system and made something out of it and used it for their advantage. Because of this they decided to bring in illegals to speed up the timeline.

I know I'm pessimistic, but I don't see this getting solved without missive bloodshed. If it does come to that no one wins. Also I'm not convinced that a good functioning government that protects the rights of the people will rise from the ashes.

Agreed, showing everything in very black and white terms does make it easy to demonize the other side. However, it's like an optical puzzle. Once you manage to show someone the logical fallacy of an "all or nothing" viewpoint, through the dialectic of conversation, you begin to break that down. Turn a man into a natural skeptic, and you'll move him away from polarization.

Agreed, but this is not impossible to overcome. We can support ourselves and counteract this. I don't completely know of the legality, but I don't believe there is anything that prohibits economically supporting only conservatives that I'm unaware of here. Band together, and we can overcome.

I've given up hope of a peaceful resolution.

Social media is a plague upon freedom and tolerance. It's nothing more than an elaborately disguised tool to control, corral, divide, and misinform weak minded simpletons.

Having a simple friendly political discussion that was common in 1980, 1990, 2000 is now unfathomable. Social media, the thought police, cancel culture and sjw's have made it impossible.

When we can no longer discuss our issues in a disagreeable yet amicable adult fashion, and if we are now at risk of having our employment negatively impacted, earnings reduced, lifestyle affected, houses or vehicles vandalized etc all for daring to have a political views, it's only going to drive everyone underground and farther apart slowly building hatred of the other side.

We are facing a relentless enemy that is not content to live in peaceful cohabitation with us. They have no tolerance of us. They will not stop until they forcefully impose their view and agenda on all of America, or someone makes them stop. IMO it's too self sustaining at this point there is no stopping it. Social media algorithms are designed to keep giving more of what people want for more clicks so it keeps idiots receiving more and more fake inflammatory information bits literally designed to fuel the fire.

We are up against big academia, higher learning, big tech, big media, the deep state buraucorcy, special interest groups, SJWs, marxists, radical idealogues, ambitious district attorneys. They all honestly legitimately feel to their core that their cause is right and just and that they feel they are academically superior, morally superior, more tolerant, economically superior, have superior lifestyles all that combined emboldens them and convinced them they are right. Seriously spend some time on Democrat message boards this is the over riding theme. They will band together and organize and fanatically do what is within their means for their cause and consequences be damned because they know they can still go within their circles and get jobs, advance their careers, get government benefits etc. They don't have the negative consequences we do. To make matters worse their policies have guaranteed that their numbers increase yearly due to demographics, illegals and their kids etc.. they are trying to do all possible to play the 20 year game and stack the deck to ensure success.

We can go to our anynomous message forums, fly our trump flags, vote, teach our kids history and civics but it won't matter. We are facing an organized and coordinated enemy that will use vast resources to discredit or vilify us as enemies (were just a bunch of dangerous "ists" and "phobes") that must be stopped. They will make us fearful to speak out and will try to ruin our careers and slander us.

Most of us just want to be left alone so even though we have very strong beliefs we will just take our views underground into our own local echo chambers out of fear of being fired/persecuted/slandered/ attacked etc. Most of us work in an environment where we can be fired for just about anything. We aren't going to jeopardize our families livlihoods and living standards to morally right. We'll just keep our opinions to ourselves and go about our business.

Talking to them won't work. Negotiating won't work. Compromising won't work.

Educating our kids isn't enough. Organizing isn't enough. Setting up our own versions of academia, schooling, social media isn't enough.

Whatever they're doing we need to beat them at and be willing to accept the consequences. That is why we are losing. We are productive members of society who want to go about our lives being left alone.

The things that must be done are dirty, ugly, vile and depending upon who writes or enforces the law "illegal". They are either stopped with force or, they will keep whittling away until they have everything. (And no I'm not advocating it, just saying for fictional entertainment purposes)

Your 1) is a good expanse on my meandering thoughts in my first post.

I believe that this ends in either major bloodshed via a civil war or through an authoritarian technocracy--orwellian style.

It's very hard to see the next 50 years looking much like the last with generally peaceful political discourse and a healthy culture in general. The left does not want that, and when one side doesn't like it it's like trying to have a fair fight when the opponent has already started biting and going for eyes.

I think the execution here is going to require a lot of tact, and careful thinking. Planning. These are things mostly associated with combat, but are perfectly applicable to any non-violent course of action. Plan, execute, evaluate.

I do not confuse the two, but that is the optic for the other side. I think these weakens our appeal to the middle of the road people. Probably more importantly it makes it hard to appeal to younger adults. They feed on the high energy and emotion.

I'm pretty young (37) and I have yet to see any decrease in any of the programs. Us as a population and more importantly politicians do not have the stomach to cut social programs. So the reality is they will increase until it breaks us.

I liked almost everything you said except the part about moving to other states expecting it to fix everything.

I think many people are moving to other states because they realize "it's coming" and they want to be in a more friendly locale when it happens. It's out of our control we can't stop it, only get in front and in as advantageous position as we can be. IMO I envision some place like rural South Dakota near ideal because your surrounded by people who view the same way you do and you're far enough away no one will bother you. I don't want to be anywhere near Transition zones and divided demographics.

I think your confusing what we are saying. No one is saying to give up. We are looking to win in a different fashion then you are. Personally I do not believe we can save America in fashion we deem acceptable. So because of this I'm preparing myself to win in the collapse, at least as much as possible. Hopefully I'm wrong but I don't see what can be done, because the political will power isn't there.

And yet things are surely not dire enough now to require one. If most of us step back most of us are doing pretty well and probably will continue to. The slow boil of the left is insufferable but the only way to stop it is too extreme to truly consider at this time.

The only way I can see to deal with this effectively is to guard your children minds. While many adults today are in pursuit of the "American Dream" their children are pretty much left to fend for themselves with video games and such and are vulnerable to outside influences. I think we must have more interaction with our kids always reminding them this is how G'ma and G'pa did it vs. the "new normal"...

For instance if in conversation about politics don't be afraid to tell them what the democratic party did after the civil war. How they enacted laws to keep the black population from advancing themselves. Was the KKK set to their nasty task by the democratic party at the time? How about Jim Crow laws to keep the blacks back with ex-confederate soldiers as judges and such. They NEED to know this...

So if you look at the democratic party now they are coming off as the good guys for the black people. How did that happen? It happened because they have been told lies and given money by the dirt bags who have held them back and want them to stay where they are.

Tearing down monuments and destroying history has a definite purpose, to erase American history. Many blacks people today have no clue about American history other than white people are BAD...

So it's up to YOU not to let that happen and to teach your children the TRUTH because they will not learn it in school.

That's the question I'm looking to answer.

I don't think the answer is going to come in the form of one thing. It's not just going to be "homeschool your kids" or "donate to conservative causes." It's going to be a lot of mental work and energy coming up with SOPs and following through. This is hard stuff, make no mistake. The problem is we've put off the real "hard stuff" for a long, long time.

I want to be clear that I in no way shape or form am "giving up." The way I see it, there is a three tiered course to a solution if you will, a political one, an economic one, and a cultural one, all are intertwined to a degree.

Steve Bannon, and say what you will about the man, was right when he said that all politics is downstream of culture. In order to change our politics we need to change our culture. The Left has been winning at this for years, decades actually. We need to take the fight to them. I'm not quite sure how to do that since at this point it's so engrained in the population that anyone who is a Republican is a racist, mouth-breathing, wife beater who also rapes his sister. The caricature would be farcical if not so many people believed in it. The way I see us changing the culture (and this takes decades) is to get people into education and arts/cultural institutions to push our agenda to make it "cool" and "fun" for people, especially young people. You yourself have suggested that more conservatives need to learn how to code to have our alternatives to Big Tech and I agree with you 100%! The problem lies in that the gatekeepers to a lot of those institutions are invested in the system as it currently is. How to either work around those gatekeepers to plow through them I don't have an answer to.

Once the culture is on our side then the political follows. People will vote in people who "think" like them are likeminded. Having said that, you need good candidates. Policy wonks may be able to crunch numbers and formulate policies but that doesn't get anyone excited. On the flip side, affable people who are good looking and interesting to talk to may have shit for brains and don't really get anything done. You're looking for a unicorn who can both talk policy and be affable. All too few politicians have both those qualities. In recent years, honestly, only Ronald Reagan (at least on the right) has really held both of those qualities. I also think, as much as this pains me, there either needs to be public financing of campaigns or at least a ceiling on how much can be spent. This levels the playing field. There also needs to be hard term limits, though, even if with that you run the risk of voting in just another puppet. Everyone wants to remove lobbying and special interests, but when it comes down to it there is just too much money to be made (and everyone has their own version of a special interest that is OK...the gun lobby for most of us on this forum). Getting money out of politics and making it about "we the people again" is what we need to get back to.

Economically, we need to make Marxism/Socialism anathema for everyone. Really educate people about how body and soul crushing it is not just for economic prospects but also the mass murders that have been done its name. Capitalism also needs be brought to bear the way it should be. Right now we don't have real capitalism in this country. We have corportism or crony capitalism as it's sometimes called. Several of us here are in our 30s and when people our age complain about not being about to afford a house or the American Dream of our parents they're not wrong. Now some (perhaps a lot) of that is their fault (what the hell were you thinking that Gender Studies degree was going to get you?) they have a valid point in that the economy has screwed them and really only benefited the 1% the most. Too Big to Fail is bullshit. So is allowing traders to use Fed Dollars to treat the Stock Market and Economy like their own personal casino. This is not what Adam Smith or many other free marketers envisioned. When we fix this, we pay down the debt because that house of cards is going to collapse long before anything else political will. When we get the debt under control we have reasonable taxes (a fairer, flatter tax for most), only the most necessary regulations, and let entrepreneurs and innovators unleash the free market and create a healthy economy. Maybe not one that grows quickly like we're used to, but won't boom and bust in stupendous fashions.

Miscellaneous fixes:

1. End birthright citizenship. One or both parents must be a US citizen for you to get citizenship. You mom dropping you a foot across the border should never have counted.

2. Regulate Big Tech and treat them like utilities. They're able to push propaganda as truth and have poisoned the minds of so many.

3. Bring back local control to schools and abolish Common Core, No Children Left Behind, the 1619 Project and every other related abomination. Get vouches to people who want to send their kids to private school or home school.

4. Tax dollars should only be used for only clearly, demonstrably useful public works such as infrastructure (roads, bridges, railroads, air and seaports, high speed internet, etc.), national defense, and old age pensions (Social Security) for those that have contributed into the system.

5. Do what we can to eradicate "cancel culture" and have it criminalized. People are afraid to speak up for either social ostracization or loss of their jobs. If they can speak up we'd have more transfer of ideas and we'd all be healthier because of it. Free Speech, even hateful speech, is sacrosanct. I'll include in this the abolition of all hate speech/hate crime laws.

I realize this is big picture stuff but it's what I have so far based on what I've been thinking about for some time. I also now it goes bottom up as opposed to top down (hence why local government is so vitally important). How we practically implement it in a short period of time I cannot say.

Most Americans are doing fine in their lives either thru hard work or by leeching off the system. We have a roof over our heads, clothes on our backs, 3 squares a day and unlimited entertainment at our fingertips. I see references to the novel 1984 quite often. People were controlled thru fear. However I think we are more in a Brave New World scenario where our needs and met to such a degree that we don't want a change and risk losing that which we already possess. What we desire is what is controlling us.

That's the question I'm looking to answer.

I don't think the answer is going to come in the form of one thing. It's not just going to be "homeschool your kids" or "donate to conservative causes." It's going to be a lot of mental work and energy coming up with SOPs and following through. This is hard stuff, make no mistake. The problem is we've put off the real "hard stuff" for a long, long time.

My concern not to be Debbie downer we're too individualistic. We argue over things like .45 or 9mm getting us all to unite on the same page in a coordinated effort is a herculean task.

You yourself have suggested that more conservatives need to learn how to code to have our alternatives to Big Tech and I agree with you 100%! The problem lies in that the gatekeepers to a lot of those institutions are invested in the system as it currently is. How to either work around those gatekeepers to plow through them I don't have an answer to.

You lie. You lie about your affiliation, you do your job, and you vote the other way. You tactfully choose the conservative options when given the chance.

As to your action suggestions:

1. No disagreement. Probably not a huge impact on our culture, but couldn't hurt.
2. There definitely has to more control around big tech. No disagreement.
3. Absolutely agree. We fail our children daily.
4. No disagreement.
5. Totally agree.

So, out of that list, I want to focus on some practical things we can do. Points 3, and 5.

For point 3, practically speaking, it means we have to get really involved in the lives our kids when it comes to school. Know what they're being taught, and sit them down and express your views to them. Go into detail. Explain to them the risks in holding those views, and how they'll be targeted if they publicly disclose them. Give them a choice, through teaching them the other side of one-sided views they get from school.

For point 5, I think the best way to handle "cancel culture", is economic. Anyone who promotes cancel culture should be dealt with via essentially not buying their products, using their services, etc. Don't publicly state it, but it'll be obvious when the "cancel" culture people start to realize that holding such views has an economic impact on their lives. "Cancel" them back.

Now we're making progress. Now we're thinking about what can be done. This is the track we should be on.

Once you control all the tech you control thought and even people's choices are not real. It becomes easy to keep your finger on a population.

Yesterday made me realize that we are past the tipping point regarding this concept. That a significant portion (never mind the majority) of our country could be manipulated into believing that old Joe is fit for the highest office in the land is very telling. Such a position defies reason and indicates that we, as a society, do not have the ability to accurately and independently reason.

The solution is to take back academia and the media - to include internet based media. If it can be done, it will require generations to have an adequate effect. Companies and universities will need to be created or acquired. They will need to be intensely competitive to grab market share as quickly as possible. They must remain privately held with zero tolerance for leftist ideology.

War might be easier.


ETA: We should be popping out kids like crazy too - provided we retain the ability to educate them properly. The lefties have a thing with killing their offspring so the forces of selection favor us if we take a cue from rabbits and other... groups, shall we say.

Support businesses that have our interest in mind. We need to look after our own and build our own support networks
