You do if you are working for the enemy of freedom.
When did corrections officers become the enemy of freedom? I understand the mindset a bit of the Police, but certainly not CO's....
You do if you are working for the enemy of freedom.
Now with the good moral character of you lose your job so they think you have good moral character? I’ll bet they have been told to deny these old CO’s for not having good moral character. Just saying. Some do not understand that this is actually a really big deal. Many departments will not allow their officers to have a pistol permit while on the job.
I heard NYC was like this, not sure if they changed policy.
Buffalo PD had this policy for the longest time.
Yep, lose your job, lose your guns until the process of permit is complete, which could be a year or more.
There is a lot of this lately and I don’t understand it. Maybe it’s my life circumstances where I knew all the cops in my hometown so I had not experienced this. Now all the old guys retired and I don’t know many of the new ones so I’m on par with others. I don’t know and hadn’t thought of this until recently.A lot of smuggery on the part of super citizens in the law enforcement community now getting it thrown back in their faces. Join the fight assholes.

I have, thankfully, only ever experienced good cops in both personal and professional capacities. But these were individuals.A lot of smuggery on the part of super citizens in the law enforcement community now getting it thrown back in their faces. Join the fight assholes.

yes, one day I turned left on a no left turn sign. I didn’t see the sign because I was looking at the stopped car in front of me and looking to see if it was safe to turn left the cop that pulled me over are it seem like I had just murdered five kids. It was insane. I was taking my son fishing after school and turning into the parking lot to fish at. Fishing gear was visible. Cop couldn’t believe I had lived there for along time and not seen the sign. I told him I almost always come from the other direction and turn right into that lot but was coming from the kids school as that’s why. Guy was a huge jerk and there’s no need for that. Same with when the other cop thought I backed into a car o the street. I didn’t but he was convinced I did and he couldn’t be wrong. Not yo mention his only evidence was I lived across the street from the car damaged. I said people pull in and turn around in my driveway frequently.I have, thankfully, only ever experienced good cops in both personal and professional capacities. But these were individuals.
It's the basis for why I respect what they do.
As a group, though, I can't help but feel they have a "better-than-thou" attitude, and their willingness to overlook rights infringements codified in law and, in many cases, enforce that law always rubs me the wrong way.
The best thing for our Rights is to have the rank-and-file cops feel the same sting we have to. Maybe it will convince them to "do the right thing" and start arresting corrupt politicians.
The enemy of Freedom is the NY State Govt. When did corrections officers become the enemy of freedom? I understand the mindset a bit of the Police, but certainly not CO's....
Well the Governor DID call them "Criminals" and accused them of breaking the Law, yet no charges were filed, arrests made, or convictions made in Court...slander/Libel anyone? Now with the good moral character of you lose your job so they think you have good moral character? I’ll bet they have been told to deny these old CO’s for not having good moral character. Just saying.
Does it surprise you?Neither they nor us should be compelled to beg and pay indulgences to the State for permission to have a handgun let alone register it...NY is the only State in the Union that make this demand.
This is 100% correct. When my friend gave up his FDNY Fire Marshal status to go back to the suppression side (because there was no overtime and he was trying to built up his best of three years for retirement) he had to surrender all his guns on his badge. He transferred all the handguns and non scary items to me. We stored his "high cap" mags at my place in PA. Disassembled his ARs, transferred the lowers to me, and reassembled them in PA.Some do not understand that this is actually a really big deal. Many departments will not allow their officers to have a pistol permit while on the job.
