AI is going to change our lives in ways we are yet to comprehend and that's impressive because this forum has a lot of free thinker non-normies. Some ways for the better..... Many ways for the worse
The more thought i put into AI the more I dislike where I see it going.
Sara conner in terminator and Will smith in irobot were right along they tried to warn us. Pretty soon there will be very few red pill takers left and neo will have to find the one.
I've been listening to a lot of news on the topic of AI, and all the areas it's poised to take over. The amount of professions it will replace is quite vast, interestingly. Some of the ways in which I've heard on the news it can, or is already being used:
* Psychology / mental health - AI is already being used in this space to act as a front to interacting with patients. See: https://amelia.ai/ It has also been used to initiate CBT (no, not the CBT that @Darth is thinking) in the form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to patients mostly be repeating similarly their responses back to them in an effort to get them to think about what they're saying.
* Financial - The obligations here are obvious that it will be able to analyze vast quantities of data faster than a human, which is even the case with present machine learning anyway.
* Managerial Jobs / HR jobs - A lot of managing jobs are likely going to disappear from what I'm hearing as AI will allow one manager to service many workers more effectively. HR will be similarly affected as it will be quicker to check against regulatory code for things like hiring and firings.
* Sales - AI will very effective at finding the best way to craft sales pitches to optimize success, and in the advertising space it's going to boom pretty quickly as will machine learning in general which is already in play.
Would it be able to take over the job of a lawyer or accountant? Maybe. It can probably take over accounting, but also can search case law more quickly.
Either way, this is going to put a LOT of people out of work eventually. This is going to fuck a lot of people really hard as it is implemented. White collar jobs were thought of as safe, but this is going to put a lot of white collar workers out of work. Blue collar work may even be a better option at this point.
There is one bit of good news I was listening to over the last hour regarding AI. It will make cheating rampant in schools. It will make the job of a teacher nearly impossible to know if a student cheated on written assignments.
In short, it will make teachers do what they are dreading -- teaching students for understanding and not for cookie cutter replies that an AI can easily generate. They will be forced to truly engage with their students to determine how much they know, and that will make them actually more prepared.
