I heard the reason they are not willing to register this particular gun is because it was registered to someone else years ago and there is no paperwork backing up the claim that this gun is "legally" owned. The original owner is dead, they cannot confirm real ownership.
Seems odd and something doesn't add up.
They should be able to determine that it was permitted to the previous 2 family members even though they have passed away, no?
From the original story a few weeks ago, I remember reading that neither the Grandfather nor the father ever had the gun on their permits.
Wasn't there someone here trying to do that? I remember telling him to just go to PA and ship it from a PA FFL to a NY FFL to avoid shit like this but he wouldn't listen. Wanted instead to ask the State Police or something.
Why would no FFL in PA touch that?No FFL in PA is going to touch that.
I have done this procedure with WWII bring backs from my grandfather. I turned them into the Rochester Police. I had to call 911 and they sent a car to pick them up. I was given a receipt and told to call the property room in 2 days. I then took the receipt and had them added to my permit. I was given a green card to pick them up by the clerk and headed over to the police property room. I handed them an ID and they gave me my two pistols in a paper bag. I asked them if the wanted the green card and they said NO. Couldn't have been easier

Its still horseshit from the county, they can but just don't want to. I claimed amnesty on pistol illegally brought to NY from another state and another from a long deceased permit holder than was no relation to me.
I never said I agree to their thinking or their actions. Just trying to explain it a bit. They are having a difficult time tracing the gun. It really is that simple.
