I posted stuff sometimes from A to Z I recently posted my Mossberg lots of tire kickers one in particular said he's from CA he's willing to pay my asking price either postal money order or cashier's check I told him I'm not interested in shipping and any thing I sell must go through a FFL locally he said it's No problem his FFL would pick it up ! I'm thinking it's someone type of phishing scam any one have experience with this type of deal's just don't want to get involved in any headaches what say the Peep's
PS ' also said he's on deployment ! My wouldn't it be easier for him to purchase same Mossberg in CA ?
Smells fishy. Too many things sound odd: CA, on deployment, paying full asking price, an FFL that does house calls ...
As far as bank checks and MOs go they are much harder to forge but it can be done. I'd move on unless he's willing to send you full asking and shipping price to an FFL (from yours) you can find in a directory online. I'd hold shipment for 2 weeks for funds clearing. If he's deployed he can't be in a hurry to get it. Otherwise I'd move on.
I had someone who wanted a car but they were going on deployment and was going to send the money via a Money Order. Drive very far away from this dude. It is a scam.
I have done a few deals on CL where I shipped but not for a gun. They were for older moped parts that were hard to find. I requested a US Postal Money order and I would ship only after the money order was cashed. I figured if its a postal money order they would know if its fake right away when I went to cash it and the deal would be off if was fake. Luckily all my shipping deals went through with no problems.
It's a scam. The new scam with money orders and banks is they get them and use there phone bank app to deposit it by taking a picture of it. Then pass it off as still good.
