The federal govt is so vast and large that it's practically impossible for anyone to know what is going on within every agency. As we have seen with the DOJ/FBI/CIA there is a large number of people within every agency that actively resists the trump administration. I guess it shouldn't surprise me the left wing fever took over so much at the nuclear lab.

One voter loves Candidate B, and votes for them.
Two voters really like the vast majority of Candidate A's policies, and much of Candidate A's accomplishments, but hate the fact Candidate A is brash. They stay home.
Candidate B wins.

I am voting for Kennedy to PUNISH Markey for his endless decades of sucking at the teats of the Massachusetts Taxpayers, while delivering NOTHING.

If Shiva makes it through the Republican Primary, that is when I'll donate what I can to him, and vote for him in November.

Yes but I'm going to call it out every time i see it because its intellectually lazy. :)

As a New Yorker of a conservative bent, I generally have to vote strategically in most instances (I am a proud registered DINO). But here, I got nothing. As things stand i will certainly vote down-ticket but I do not intend placing a vote for President.

If you knew you were going to cast the deciding vote in November, how would you vote ?

The rest of the country is split 50/50 and you alone get to pick Trump or Biden, or a civil war.

Now, why wouldn’t you vote the same way now ?

I’ll bite on your hypothetical - I won’t neg it now that I’ve listened to enough SCOTUS oral arguments and I now kinda like hypotheticals - and say this: first, the electoral college would almost certainly sort that out. Second, if you put that aside, I might drink the Trump cup of bleach instead of the Biden cup of arsenic. Woke politics has woven its tendrils up into the highest echelons of the DNC, and that’s more insidious than Trump (even acknowledging that Trump has had a role in stoking the woke).

You cannot "not participate". This shit will come for you regardless. "I didn’t vote for either of them" will get you exactly nowhere, and enough people doing it will get us a Biden/Harris administration.

The current unrest will of course continue regardless. That is the least of our problems long term.

As a wise man once pointed out, you can ignore reality, but you can’t ignore the consequences of ignoring reality.

The hypothetical assumes you are casting the deciding vote in the deciding state, the electoral college actually makes that unlikely situation more possible rather than less.

The whole argument is academic for those of us who will be voting in NY anyway. If NY is in play that means Trump is already winning in a landslide.

I really wish we had gotten to AZ in time to vote there in Nov, but alas it's not going to happen now.

I can completely understand people voting 3rd party in a state like NY where your vote is only symbolic anyway. But I can't understand people in a potential swing state doing it.

For those people there are only 3 choices "Trump", "Biden/Harris", or "I don’t care which one of them wins".

I can understand people who don’t like Trump. There are a lot of things to dislike. What I can't understand are people on this board who don't think Biden will be much much worse.

Gotcha. At the deciding vote in a deciding state with the electoral college, that makes sense.

However, faithless electors?

My next jaunt in podcast land is a pair of oral arguments from Washington and Colorado in the SCOTUS to try and understand why they upheld that states can bind electors. I don’t really understand that.
