Liberal poll. Take it for what it's worth.
Sixty percent of New Yorkers have a favorable view of Gov. Andrew Cuomo, according to a poll released Monday by the Siena College Research Institute.
That’s a recent high for the governor. While he was viewed favorably by somewhere between 60 and 75 percent of Siena respondents throughout most of his first term, his numbers have been mostly in the mid-50s since revelations about his interactions with the Moreland Commission to Investigate Public Corruption were reported in the summer of 2014. Monday’s poll is only the second time since then that he has hit the 60 percent mark.
“Voters like Cuomo more now than at any point since his second term began,” said Siena spokesman Steve Greenberg. “Maybe it’s because they like his 2017 agenda, or perhaps it’s a comparison with the president, or it might simply be because it’s been quiet the last few months on the corruption front. Whatever the reason, Cuomo is riding high with New Yorkers right now.”
For the most part, voters were unchanged in their views of Cuomo’s agenda compared to a month ago.
