My CVA wolf shoots tacks at 100 yards. I used it last year during regular gun season because of how nicely balanced it is and how pleasant to carry.

As these keep getting better, and optics are allowed in most states, they certainly are no approximation of any conventional muzzleloader. It undermines some intention of law really, but I guess compounds vs recurve have done the same thing.

The compound bow was an invention that caught on in the archery world because even crappy shots could start hitting bulls eyes and with the advent of more shooters, after some consideration, was allowed into the bowhunting season and later some of the accessories that were first illegal were adopted as well.
The modern muzzleloaders were invented solely as a get around in the M/L season, so there was no consideration they were legal, as made.
In both cases, as well as the crossbow, there was opposition, not from me because I believe if you are well practiced and disciplined enough to stay within the parameters of your weapon and your ability in using that weapon, you should hunt with what you want.
I do have objections to which weapons should be allowed in which seasons though.

A guy on another forum just bought one. Sounds pretty sweet but I already have a accura Mr and see no need for this now that rifles are allowed in my zone.

I like it, but for over $1k, I'll stick with my 30 year old home built hawken and 100 yard limit.
I pondered getting the savage smokeless ML, but the price for it was outrageous too.
