Let alone it involves a RIGHT! And any attempt to institute procedure or requirements of storing a weapon rendered unusable while in a home has been addressed by SCOTUS! The RIGHT to DEFENSE is an individual RIGHT. And that RIGHT is more paramount, prominent, while in one's own home!

When I was a kid we had bus drills in case the bus crashed or the driver became incapacitated. We had fire drills to practice evacuating the building. I remember the local FD even came with a small camping trailer that filled with smoke to simulate a fire in your house.
Why aren't we doing gun drills for our kids? Bring them to an assembly, show them a bunch of different examples of firearms, and teach them safe handling. Maybe even let the little rascals shoot an air gun so they can see the operation.
