Bay Parkway isn't a great place to park. Hours of service regs are temporarily lifted, I would get clear of the boroughs before going to sleep. Also it's largely residential and the whiners complain about everything.

Word is he got in big trouble for this, possibly reassigned to a crappy position. The reason the Jewish community was mentioned in the article is because they control that area, not the PD, and what happened most definitely was not from above, but due to that specific commander doing exactly what the article said: not having the balls to tell the Hasids to shove it up their ass.
The ironic part is now this guy's career is over because of them when in fact they likely hand-picked him to become the CO of that precinct. Chose the wrong "rabbi" buddy. lol
That said, the from the PC on down, this whole situation has been handled like crap. They're going to learn their lesson really soon when the true number of infected cops explodes as testing becomes easier to get. They want us to mostly continue business as usual. We're only NOT doing so due to our own decisions. I haven't left my office other than to take my daily gym break for 2 weeks. Neither have any of my cops. I don't care what they say up higher.
Two days ago, the day tour at my precinct had 4-5 cops exposed to a COVID-19 death at the person's residence (positive test, never went to hospital). All of those cops should be home. They were told to continue working, business as usual, standing inches from everyone else the next day at roll call.

Have you ever had to deal with Hasidic Jews? I have a couple HVAC friends that live in Jersey, they have to deal with these people. All they say, in general is, get your money up front, otherwise its good bet your not going to get paid the full amount agreed to.

Was talking to some postal workers who waited on a person that has now a confirmed case of the 19... They asked if they could isolate themselves for 2 weeks ... ...Keep working was the reply. The very nature of this virus is such that the entire town could come down with it ... If they are serving the public for a week before they are symptomatic. Could bite us in the butt in a big way .... The entire country... Because folks are trying to keep things business as usual ... Treat this like one does a common cold.
Lakewood area? I have a lot of family down there. They're about to finally get run out of Ocean County over what they are doing down there.
Here we have the resources to smash up their gatherings (just not the will power...), down there they overwhelm everything, but now the state is getting involved.

You have folks doing a mercy run to get medical supplies in and they never set foot in NY before .Just harass the drivers and then shout about shortages ... We all have been in a situation where we just need an hours shut eye or we climb a telephone pole ....
I dont live around any Hasidic jews but im pretty worried about the large Amish community im completely surrounded by.

They are still all over town.....mostly Walmart and Aldi......brushing against people, completely ignoring the dozens of "social distancing" signs and have no intrest in using the Purell offered in these places.
This I know from word of mouth, I have not been to any of these places recently.
What I have seen are the Amish gathering in large groups (10-40) on Sunday and Wedsday for their church and lunches.
They either dont care or dont know......but im sure they just belive whatever happens is gods will.

I know the area very well, used to work in the neighborhood. These streets and avenues go around and through Washington Cemetery. Although Washington Cemetery is a Jewish Cemetery, it is not in a Hasidic neighborhood. It's in a mixed neighborhood with some Jews (not Hasidic) living near by, no one lives at the cemetery. There are no houses or apartment building around, so there is always plenty of parking space to fit large trucks. It was used by truckers for years, decades actually. NYPD screwed the pooch and now trying to shift the blame on Hasidic Jews, with whom they always had strained relations.

I had to deal with Hasidic Jews as a window treatments installer. Comparing to all others they were better customers BY FAR, simply because they are not the types to initiate trouble. I had people of ethnic group I will not name skillfully fold a few $20 bills in half and counting them twice in a stack when paying. I had people from the same group nitpicking the work to reduce balance due.

BTW, Washington Cemetery is a secular Cemetery, it's not a Hasidic Cemetery. My wife's grandmother is buried there. It's a long stretch to blame this on complaints from Hasidic Jews. There is simply no reason for them to park there, unless they are truckers.
These avenues are the quickest way to drive through. There is less traffic, less cross streets and less traffic lights. No stores, no people. I used them whenever I could to beat the traffic.
