.357 mag
Haven't seen much for reviews on this lower. Seems to have nice features and seems to be the safest way to go for NY. Unfortunately they are proud of it $$$.
Many options for fixing a magazine/compliance out there. None of which are officially “approved” by NYS law. Nor ever will be. Vague laws favor the state.
Pick which one you’re comfortable with and go with it. Lots of discussion threads on this forum.
No need to fix a mag twice.Already have a aero lower with a cross armory fixed mag filled with jb weld. Might drill and tap a hole behind the front take down pin and pin the mag there as well.
Looking at options that seem safest and the DSI seemed like a good option. Too bad they seem sketchy
Us on long island who still give a shit about integrity don't particularly like them. They tried making everything think only there option was legal.Guess I need to do some more reading lol.

Not saying you do but I wasn't around the gun world when all this stuff happened so I wasn't sure how far reaching it was.Don't have to live on Strong Island to share this opinion.

So all this is just a lower with a set screw holding the mag in place for $200. Get a regular lower for $60 take it to your local gunsmith and have them drill and tap it or do it yourself. It will be cheaper and your not supporting a shit company.
Went fixed because the featureless options I tried were not comfortable for me. Since it's just going to be for yotes mag changing isn't a big deal for me on this one . Will look into this setup more for the next one though, thanks. With that lower wouldn't the features still make it a assault weapon ( muzzle device and detachable mag) or do you still need a barrel without threads?Quite honestly, it isn't worth fixing a magazine. In the beginning it was worth it because all you had to do was buy one small device to fix what you already had until the laws got sorted up.
Now we know that they aren't going away. So what's the point? For looks? You are better off with a Ares SCR/ Fight lite lower that'll let you use a rifle as intended. The ability to change magazines is the most important feature of a semi auto rifle. Everything else is just an accessory.
Something like this (not mine) actually serves a purpose.

I have a 10 round pmag with the minus 5 insertFor coyote hunting (actually all hunting in NYS) you will need to fix a 5rd mag or a 10 rounder that has been fixed to hold no more then 6rds.

Hows the trigger on the area?Just wanted to make sure you didn't overlook that! I myself had Mini 14's and then picked up a ARES SCR about a year and a half ago very happy with it.
Good luck with your build.
