I have never tried to trade a gun in to them but have had a few crappy experiences with them. I will not give them my business at all.

Trading in firearms is a huge loser for a gun owner as the store will charge you retail for whatever you buy and give you 50% for what you trade.
Sell the firearms yourself (on this website or elsewhere) and take the money to the store, you'll be happier in the end.

I'm also not a fan of Davis, to the point that I don't go in his stores.
If you're looking to sell them fast, check out Master Class in Monroe. They go by Blue Book and will be very upfront about what they will price it at and what % they will give you for them.

which one is the owner? got a rifle from them right before the 16 election, they are on the pricey side. that was the first and only time i bought a gun from them.

I don't get the hate. I've found Davis to be a very well stocked gun store and reasonably priced over many visits, including recent visits.
The issue is every gun shop will rook you on trade value, that's just how business is done.

Not hate. And I don't know how they handle trade-ins.
Its just that there are enough other places to shop that don't treat you like a piece of crap, and don't act like you're wasting their time, and have just a little bit of an idea what customer service is, that I don't need to go in there.
To be fair, its been many years since I've gone there. Maybe they got better.

Bought my first handgun there nearly 25 years ago and guy behind counter definitely made you feel as if you were bothering him, long waits before being served even if nobody else was at the counter. Seemed knowledgeable prices seemed inline with everywhere else just wasn't a particularly friendly guy. Doubt he's even there anymore he'd probably be in 80s/90s by now. Had to bring new revolver back three times to be sent back to S&W due to intermittent FTF (something was off with timing and or foot that advances cylinder). Definitely felt as if I was bothering him everytime it went back but they eventually got it all straightened out. Bought a small safe there about 10 years ago and don't recall experience being particularly good or bad. Bought some fishing gear there a few times and it was uneventful. Shot at range at other store a few times and had no issues. RSO was friendly and helpful. All in all pretty neutral about place but definitely can see what others are saying.

FYI - Took a trip to Davis (Goshen) about an hour ago. They had a very limited stock of rifles and very few handguns.
I think I’ve been a Davis twice, both times I have not liked the experience there. The people that work there are complete fudds. Just talking with them makes you feel like you’re bothering them and that they know more than you...always. They give off a vibe as if I’m waiting for one of their employees/owner to suggest a snub nose 6-shot revolver chambered in .22 Magnum for a woman because they’ll be able to “handle the recoil” and it won’t “jam like a semi-auto”. Also their so called range masters there are a joke and have the same mentality as the rest of the employees. Like calm down there Cletus! I don’t give crap that you’re a certified NRA pistol instructor and passed some piece of shit static course of fire that even a novice has a good chance of passing making you feel like you’re John Wick! But God forbid a shooter shoots two shots in succession less than one second apart from each other and you go high and mighty ape shit on them. I refuse to give them any business and would rather spend my money elsewhere.

That pretty well lines up with most gun shops. If you can find a mom and pop they may work with you more on a trade value for something that has been on the shelf longer as they have much more skin in the game vs a regular salesman type collecting their hourly wage.

Don’t know the rate but the place by me does consignment not trade ins. Maybe try a place like that.
Selling a firearm is like selling a car, you will always get more money selling it outright but probably a better deal overall if its a trade in.
