Was doing dishes and thinking about this for a moment. How many of you guys have played this game? It's far from a realistic survival simulator in a lot of senses, but it's an EXCELLENT SHTF human nature simulator.
Basically, world is post-apoc. SHTF, zombies are everywhere, and resources are scarce. The zombies aren't the problem though -- it's the people. And the other people are all human players, there are no computer controlled enemies, except for zombies or animals.
You spend a lot of your time balancing moving fast enough to get food and supplies, with the risk of being seen by another person who will trail and hunt/kill you for what you gather. Whether on the spot, from hundreds of yards with a rifle (really common) or follow you back to your home and basically kill you and take all your resources. Concealing your position, or fortifying it, is key.
Assuming you come across someone who seems friendly, a lot of the time you can't trust them to not turn around when you're not looking and kill you when they get the chance. Or you may not have anything to spare. It's a risk befriending anyone. I've even seen people kidnapped and handcuffed against their will as a hostage to trade for food in this thing. It's insane.
90% of the time it's a long distance scouting game of awareness and being unseen before someone gets a scope on you when you don't expect it. A really brutal game where being able to trust someone is invaluable.
Even navigation and coordination is herculean across the vast distances of the map. There's radios but batteries are hard to come by, and a lot is pre-planned coordination and protocols. Much of it is coordinates and visual confirmation.
Anyway, really cool game, and it's a little bit long winded of a post on my part. Been a long time since I played it, but I feel @GOPerfect would thrive on something like this. It's a huge time sink, but it really gets your heart going when you're in a cat and mouse game of hunt or be hunted for survival with another actual person on the other end in this game.
