Debate: If The Safe Act Was Gone, What Would Happen?

The traffic cop's, state and county, weren't stopping anyone for anything, yet there was no mass carnage on the highways and byways of this once great state. If the unconstitutional SAFE act disappeared tomorrow, it would mirror the traffic situation. Nothing would change except less people would be in court every week, many lawyers would have to find actual gainful employment and Hopefully people would wake up the the bastardization that has been done to our liberty.

I'm fairly certain it was the Tresmonds law firm who originally told me otherwise; back when I was working closely with them on the other place and doing a lot of phone chats. The thing with that though.. I mean, it was the Tresmonds. so...
the Safe act is about political definitions of AWs so was the AWB. Since there is no such thing as an assault weapon (except in politics) it Would all go away especially if the 14th was applied to it. I remember all too well during the whole Tresmond's challenge of SAFE, I'd talked with..eh [redacted] (heh) on the phone a few times and had to correct said person on what the previous law even was. Then having multiple phone conversations with @smurfette, discussing how we thought they had no idea what they were doing. We'd both had a very inside look, and it wasn't good, but we had to basically keep it to ourselves because that was the one big SAFE fight in town and we didn't want to demoralize everyone while there was still any chance.

Pretty sure they adapted to get into the business.
A lot of new companies started Up just to make work around parts after the law was passed. Isn’t thumbing your nose at a dictatorship great?
What I'm saying is they would have to. They probably haven't thought about that part yet. It would create a legal trap and the courts wouldn't allow it. It would unreasonably put law abiding people in danger of unintentionally committing a crime. You can't track and sort 50 states magazine requirements on the fly as you are traveling. It wouldn't hold up to scrutiny.

How is it any different than it is now (you are responsible for knowing the laws of the states you are traveling thru)?

Because the whole thing would be blown wide open. The states that do not allow out of state residents to carry are also the ones with the mag limits. They don't have to worry about it now because out of state residents cannot carry, period. That would all change. It would be unreasonable under the new law to expect people to buy all new mags to comply with the law allowing them free travel with their firearm.
Right. They would have to add it or have the law amended (like they did with SAFE) or the courts would have to take action.
Mag restrictions would be an unreasonable burden under the new law granting free travel throughout the entire country. Furthermore, it would also be unreasonable for residents in free mag states, which are the overwhelming majority, to have to go out and buy all new mags for their countless firearms to be in compliance.
Also, it would be argued that the mag restricted states are infringing upon the non restricted states because you are not even allowed to possess them. You couldn't stop at the state line and put in a low capacity mag and throw the standard one in your trunk. You are still in possession and therefore breaking the law. So now to be in compliance, I must only use the low capacity mag even in my home state which has no restrictions, if I plan on a trip to the restricted state. It just doesn't hold water. The bill's intent is one set of rules for all 50 states.

For real gun people things would be much better. For the casual gun user, they wouldnt notice much difference. The unsafe act was bad, but NY has been bad for a long time to gun owners and we would need more than the unsafe going away to be content.
Frankly, imo, the gun culture people wont be happy unless ny adopted constitutional carry, allowed supressors, standard cap mags, and no restrictions on any features of firearms.
Edit: nor should we be happy with anything less, and we should complain and fight for what we deserve until we are dead or out of this tyrannical state.

Yeah but it's a political process. Who's to say we wouldn't wind up with magazine restrictions cross country as a condition for getting it passed?

nothing will happen: People in NYC are the same as people of Europe. they have been indoctrinated to hate firearms for so long, they all could receive a firearm, and all of them would take the thing and put it in a dresser drawer and forget they have.
