I wanted a new upgraded scope that would be useful for woods deer hunting which is 70% of my deer hunting, plus the other 30%...orchards, pasture/hayfield/cornfields...not to mention shtf scenarios. Ahem.
About as far as I can realistically shoot depends on the property. 300 yards is a realistic max average. Depends on the back stop. Sizeable woodlot=realistic, thin hedgerow/thin tree line along a stone wall=unrealistic.

Sort of. It is a dial you put on the scope's elevation adjustment. You order it from Leupold. First one's free. Tell them cartridge, bullet weight, bullet BC, bullet velocity, your elevation above sea level, average daily temperature, and zeroed range. They custom laser cut a dial, with yardage markings, so you can dial it to target range and hold dead on. Range it, dial it, shoot it
Yes my first CDS. Rave reviews online. It's as accurate as the data you give them.

I've looked at all the options. Imo, the CDS is the easiest to use, on a quality scope of reasonable weight.
Yes. You can order more dials for different loads. They're marked.
I personally would not want a scope greater than 16 oz. 11 lbs? My absolute max rig weight would be approx 9-1/2 lbs with scope, rings, bases, bipod, and sling.
Your choice. Personally I would find that to be awkward and top heavy.
