OnSight Firearms Training will be hosting Defensive Pistol with Todd Moriarty on SUNDAY OCTOBER 29, 2017.

All students must have their NY pistol permit or LE Status.
ABOUT TODD MORIARTY:
Todd Moriarty has been in law enforcement since 1995 and has worked for a small community as well as larger city throughout his career. Todd’s career has been primarily in uniform patrol, to include K-9 and SWAT. He was an assistant team leader of his former department’s Special Reaction Team. Todd also worked one of the first SWAT dogs in the area with his K-9, Rony. Todd moved from patrol to his departments firearms training (FTU) FTU members had to be certified to instruct all levels of use of force to include: defensive tactics, handgun, rifle, shotgun, patrol tactics and SWAT tactics. He moved onto being the senior instructor in the FTU before moving on to Sig Sauer Academy as a senior instructor. Todd holds several instructor level certifications in firearms and tactical instruction. Todd has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He is also an active member of International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms instructors (IALEFI), and the National Tactical Officers association (NTOA).
Start time is 9:30am. Students are expected to arrive no later than 9:15am for set up and range safety briefing.

- Firearms safety
- Warm-up drills
- Ready positions
- Close quarters engagements
- Drawing and re-holstering techniques
- Reloading techniques and malfunction clearance drills
- Search & scan / situational awareness
- Single hand techniques (right and left and transitions)
- Moving and shooting / shooting and moving
- Failure drills
- Presentation & draw techniques
- Turning and shooting
- Cover versus concealment
- Seated position shooting
- Close range speed shooting
- Dueling
- Team tactics
EQUIPMENT LIST:
-Quality functional semi-automatic pistol
-3 magazines minimum
-Minimum of 400 rounds of brass cased ammunition (no steel cased ammunition)
- 5 rounds of dummy ammunition
-Belt mounted, dominant side holster or Brokos type battle belt with Leather or kydex holster —PLEASE NO flimsy nylon or cloth holsters. NO BLACKHAWK SERPA holsters.
-Magazine or loading device pouches / magazine carrier, etc.
-Ammunition dump pouch (optional) - we will have several on hand to loan.
-Sturdy belt at least 1.5” wide
-Footwear suitable for rapid movement and turning with good ankle support.
-Clothing suitable for training in any weather – long pants – long sleeve shirt, hoodie or jacket for cold weather.
-Wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses
-Earmuffs and earplugs
-Notebook and pen for note taking
-Humble willing to learn attitude
