Delayed for first time

I havent bought a gun since before cumo did his last round of bs. But ive never been arrested, never had a restraining order against me, and even have a pistol permit. I also recently was appoved to have the restrictions lifted from my permit and now have an unrestricted. Every time ive ever done a nics check since i was 18 it was almost an instant approval. This time it went for further review then came back as a delay. And yes i did give them my social so theres no mistakes. Anyone else had any issues lately? Itd be nice to at least know why im delayed

My buddy gets delayed every single time but he has a very common name and that is why.

I've heard the delay could be something like they messed up or you filled the form slightly incorrectly or whatever. Iirc it's only 3 days which is annoying but manageable.

I suspect they know more people than us are onto their bullshit (see: repeated failures to prevent leading to "mass shootings") and are getting cautious. I have a really (seriously) uncommon last name. Like fewer than 30 living people if you Google it uncommon. All of my checks have been virtually instant Proceeds, except the most recent (end of March) which took nearly 20 minutes for a Proceed.

That sucks. I consider myself to be like you, never been arrested, have a pistol permit etc. Everytime I buy a firearm I fill out the questionnaire and always feel confident that I’ll get the instant pass no Problem. But part of me is like holding my breath that there isn’t an issue and I get delayed.
At least it’s only a couple more days, instead of a fail.

That shouldn't be an issue. I've done the background check twice in the same day. Bought 2 guns in one store and 1 in another store. Both were pretty much instant proceeds.

Its probably not helping that NICS is setting records for more and more checks every month.

I was just telling the wife that I hope the back ground check goes smooth.
Then I log in here and see this thread.

I have bought a lot of guns since the background checks were required and have never had a problem.
But like @Camaro45th said, part of me is holding my breath that there isn’t an issue and I get delayed.
And I will be going through just that next week.

Your first post says you "haven't bought a gun since before cumo did his last round of bs" and "this time it went for further review then came back as a delay", but in your subsequent post you say "in the last 6ish months or so I've bought a few lowers and other guns."

Did you not have NICS run on those purchases in the last six months? What "last round of bs" are we talking about, his (not in force of law) desire to extend delays out to ten days? I don't think that is in effect.

I'm not saying the NRA supported NICS isnt bull shit or annoying, or a delay isnt an inconvenience but this isnt a denial.

1 of 2 things is going to happen (well 3 but we are going to go with what you said about yourself is true and leave it at 2 things)

1) the shop gets a call in the next 72 hours and you passed and you go pick up your new gun

Or

2) the shop doesnt get any call in the next 72 hours and you just take your new gun home

I have a problem... That problem is that I can't stop buying knives and bayonets.
This has been going on for years and I have so many it's crazy... I need an intervention LOL.
Anyway, I already have these two that will mount to the 590A1. I can't wait to get it.
I owned one before and had to sell it to help get enough money for a transmission for my truck.

What Ever FUAC passes into LAW has nothing to do with a NICS check .. NICS is FED not State .. FUAC's laws are on PP holders .. domestic charge and say goodbye to all your guns and PP ..
