These guys are really putting themselves into a corner. I didn't realize Sanders (I confirmed elsewhere) is proposing a .5% tax on stock purchases.

I'm not quite sure how they arrived at it but it quotes Vanguard in there as saying the average (everyday) saver would need to work 2.5 years longer to cover this.

As long as there are people with money these people will never think taxes are high enough. The other people are never quite "paying their fair share".

Depends on what you're getting for the proposed tax.

The problem is I don't trust the government to use the funds correctly. They never have. They fucked social security decades ago when they started dipping into it.

Sanders has been "talking" about taxing the rich his whole political life. But when he was a US senator in 2009 and his party had both houses and the presidency he did nothing. Did he even try to introduce a bill? Don't get me wrong here, it's no different that those bitch ass republicans and their eight show votes to repeal Obamacare. When it comes time to get it done, they DO NOTHING. If politicans actually got stuff done we wouldn't need so many of them.
