Dems call Molinaro “Trump mini-me”
POUGHKEEPSIE – As Republican Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro enters the race for governor, the state Democratic Committee has leveled its first barrage at him calling Molinaro “a Trump mini-me.”
Geoff Berman, the executive director of the State Democratic Committee, said the county executive has an “’A’ rating from the NRA, anti-LGBTQ, anti-woman, anti-immigrant, pro-Trump, pro-federal tax plan.”
Berman said Molinaro is “the delusional New York Republicans’ vision come true.”
But, Molinaro spokesman David Catalfamo fired back saying, “New Yorkers deserve a conversation about taxes, jobs, education and the future – not a string of angry, unhinged insults. As a candidate for governor, Marc Molinaro will do as he has always done and run a positive campaign focused on people.”
Molinaro has yet to officially announce his candidacy, but top officials of the State Republican Committee late last week informally voted to back him to run against incumbent Democrat Andrew Cuomo.
