Unless the anti 2A legislation is allowed to be tied in to the annual reconciliation / budget bill for a simple majority ( pro 2A bills were ruled out of those opportunities in 2016 and 2017), universal background checks needs 60 votes in the Senaorganization clear cloture/ Fillabuster with 10 Rinos selling out even if Manchin votes to infringe on the Bill of Rights.

Did you notice at the end of the interview he said,
" I’m hoping they’ll get involved to the point where we have ten of them that will work with 50 of us or 15 of them that will work with 45 of us, whatever it takes the majority, and it takes 61 moving it through the normal process.”
He makes no mention that perhaps 10 democrats or 15 Democrats would be expected to work with the Republicans.
The Demorats see it just one way. Their way always. Compromise to them is caving in to their way. Or, having it rammed down your throat via procedural maneuvering.
One trait the Demorats have is that they will virtually always stick together as a solid block. No Matter what the circumstance,
that is how they operate. They will throw all reason, common sense and what is best for our country down the sewer, but all will have a collective hand on the flusher.
Republicans have to come down off "Walton Mountain". I am guilty of being a Walton Mountain-ite in the past.
