It seems to me kind of insane that it wouldn't be possible to sue them...the problem is these mandatory arbitration clauses are the de facto approach by so many businesses now that if you don't agree to it you're sol even finding a service.

This country's health care system is still a piece of shit. It's got a lot of capable health care providers (doctors, nurses, etc.) but the entire insurance thing is an absolute scammy bucket of horse jizz. Anybody who has had to deal with a family member requiring a lot of care knows what I'm talking about: endless bills, copays. As I've often said I do not understand how the average family tolerates it.

I've been maxing my HSA for a few years and I'm still in the hole. It's easy to get there. I pay insane premiums and I'm still out loads and loads of money.

I'm not opposed to any solution, so long as whatever solution proposed:

• Is run in the black, and not like a bloated gov agency that is constantly working off borrowed money / an unlimited budget.
• We allow private options to continue.

I’ll agree that all costs should be told to you up front and if the provider is in your network. I get there can be unforeseen costs in certain circumstances and surgeries.
I guess my point is I just don’t trust their intentions.

Changes to this happen so slowly because of lobbying. If nothing else at least Obama got the preexisting conditions thing kicked in the ass.

We actually had to terminate a service lately that we were doing. It was too expensive because if in vs out of network crap. They offer financial assistance but our income is too high for that, yet not so high that I did not baulk at what they wanted me to pay. So, just terminated service.

Health insurance seems to me way inferior to how it was 15-20 years ago. I have much worse coverage and it costs me a lot more.

Automation can help knock out a lot of that bloat in administration, I'm sure.

"Hospital administrators" as an occupation or "type" are loathed by practitioners.

Administrative costs could be lowered by automation - however, just try and remove these clowns. Since their numbers have increased dramatically up until the last year on the graph, coincidentally with incredible advances in computer power, I doubt you'd be able to get rid of them.

Especially when there are degree programs for this job at major universities - get an MHA, be a narcissistic asshole, and Viola!!...you're making bank on the back of the patients and the physicians - with no discernible improvement in medical treatment.

Think bureaucrats and the COVID debacle - most of the bullshit was "administered" by some moron with no scientific or medical background.

While I understand the whole preexisting condition thing it’s pretty funny how all other insurance companies can drop you without penalty. Funny thing is with car insurance you can’t drive without it but without medical insurance they still need to treat you and save your life.
I just think the entire system is backwards and it’s ironic.

The health care system isn’t crap. The gov and insurance (mainly caused by gov rules) is crap.

It's the same thing that drives the costs of education.

For a large portion of the population, the people reaping the benefit of the service are not the ones paying. And even when they are, their cost is hidden behind so many layers of bureaucracy they have no idea what it will be until it's too late.


If you actually had to pay for that $10 aspirin and knew the charge when you swallowed it, people wouldn't put up with it.

My friend and his wife were in a minor car accident several years ago. She had neck pain and took an ambulance to the hospital. My buddy rode with them, was given a bandage for a small cut, and ended up getting a ~$350 bill for it(separate from the wife's bill).

so with this can u sue them when they wont pay for what the doc wants done .. sue them for practicing medicine with out a license when they deny your prescription from the doc .

I avoid the docs at all cost , shit is so expensive. I had three stitches put in my hand and a x ray, was over $600 after the insurance deductions and another $125 for the removal (kicking myself in the ass for that shit, only did it because I had stitches in my leg once that wasn't healed and it popped open when the doctor removed the stitches).

Had a ear Infection and the walk in visit was over $200. When I went to get my ear drops the pharmacist called me up and told me the medicine is going to cost $250 with my insurance. She said she could find a generic or I could pay out of pocket and not use my insurance. Same fucking medicine was $50 without my insurance, a $200 upcharge for my insurance.

Dread the day I need surgery, dying to see what that bill will be. Really miss my dad's county insurance now lol

Hell, my brother had a cat scan a few months back and he owes like $2300 for it.
