Very difficult to discern what is going on because the audio (suspiciously) doesn't come on until the shooting starts. Denver police identify and shoot a suspect but wind up hitting 6 bystanders as well. Was it a good shoot? Very tough to tell under the circumstances, particularly since there is no audio until after the shooting starts. I was taught that rule # 4 was know your target and what is behind it. Not sure this was top of mind here but once again with no audio it is difficult to make a firm determination.

The fact that the initial reaction from the department was to defend the action of these officers tells you exactly what the problem is.
Anytime a situation would have turned out better if there were no cops present at all, you should not be defending the officers present.
If they "followed procedures" then you should be apologizing for your deficient procedures and *fixing* them. If they did not and that's why things went badly, then get rid of them.
