I like this for a home defense gun and if the mag limit and/or assault weapons ban is lifted I’ll be buying one with a few extra magazine. I think the price point is right.

Shit and make that into an SBR, cambered in .300blk with subsonics and a suppressor. That's a great home defense gun.

Nothing new. Surfire marketed a quad stack magazine (it didn't work very well) Schmeisser, the company with the rights to that name anyways, offers a polymer quad stack (it doesn't work very well) and these types of magazines have seen intermittent use going back to the early days of detachable box magazines. They are called casket magazines. The Finnish Suomi submachine gun initially used a 50 round casket magazine until superceded by a drum magazine as the former didn't work very well. See the pattern? Magazine capacities are what they are for a reason.

True, the first generation of Surefire 60 round AR magazines had some issues, but since then they have been revised to function flawlessly. I have personally done several complete mag dumps with a full auto and had zero problems.

I think the jury is still out on the Schmeisser magazines. But I think the issue with them might be the choice of material used in the manufacture of them as opposed to the design.

The Magpul 60 round drum mags showed no signs of trouble either.

All that having been said, NONE of those magazines should be used with .300 Blackout. The Magpul drum won't even load more than a half dozen before jamming.

Lots of magazines throughout history had ( have ) problems. Reliability can be a real issue.

It would have to be strong plastic to make sure the mag doesn’t flex and feed properly.

Yeah definitely nothing new. But even worse, you're now tied to a platform that can only use quasi proprietary/historically undependable mags. I remember surefire used to make 100 round mags too. Maybe they stopped because of the impracticality. No special platform or modifications needed though. 50 round drum mags and even beta C mags are also still available and IMO much more practical and dependable.

Those big long banana mags are not practical but that’s part of what drew me to this as it’s much more compact than those long ones in your photos. Those big long banana mags are not practical but that’s part of what drew me to this as it’s much more compact than those long ones in your photos. We will be waiting years for those rules to be overturned so others can be the beta testers. The amount of money I put isn’t great so I’m not super worried about the money.

when you're trying to low crawl and rise to fire, that 30 round magazine makes you a 4" higher target... I prefer 20's same can be said of the M-14 except the standard 20 puts your head up even higher, then there's always those that rest the Rifle on the magazine, which is NOT a good practice.

I just want a regular AR-15 that can take 30rd detachable mags.

Just give me that freedom to have a gun as it's intended. I would be totally content with a regular AR. I just want a reliable, functional rifle. As cool as this seems, I don't need a proprietary system to be limited too.

Hell just get a mag clamp and in less than 2 seconds you can have 30 more rounds back in action.

The riskychrisky YouTube channel he's always pumping 20rd mags as his choice for ARs and that is his reasoning to drop to prone and stay lower.

Don't even need a mag clamp. A roll of electrical or duct tape will suffice.
