I used to go there only to use the $10 coupon reward things people would give me. Would pickup a free box of ammo.
Then they put it all behind the gun counter, which nobody is ever at or is swamped so its impossible to even buy ammo.
They are overpriced and guns and ammo are the one thing they sell that you cant buy on amazon.

Screw them. I recently was bought some gifts that I didn't like needed to exchange them for something in stock. Found some Carharts to exchange them for. My son asked me to go there for something he wanted. I explained what CEO did with guns and said I'd prefer to support some other company who didn't have the same anti=gun stance. My boy was on-board with that! Proud of that kid...

Don't forget they took a hit with all their NFL stuff too. Im sure a lot of people who aren't even pro gun stopped buying NFL stuff there too. Plus the recent hit that all retails stores have taken in the last year or two. A lot of mall stores have been closing nationwide.

And? Pretty sure that the majority of gun customers cut Dicks loose long ago. I know I wont buy from them.

exactly what I was thinking. This is actually grand standing by the CEO. It makes no business sense to have a F&S across the street from a Dick's with the same products. The problem is Dick's is publicly traded and Field and Stream is not (kinda, being the same corp.) . At some point, stock holders are going to get pissed off that the CEO has devalued to company by 50%. we can only wait and see now.

There's one thing I wish I could go to Dick's to get, but I won't. I need a thin wet suit for this Spring/early summer, and they had a nice one at a decent price. No business from me, but now I need to find a new source. Blah.

Dicks has made a poor business decision Yes! But this will also hurt the gun community too! How many new to shooting people get there first gun from Dicks/Walmart because they or their kids wandered into that section of the store and it peaked their interest? ( Just imagine them walking into the LGS's that some of you guys talk about the quirky owners or staff) I can't tell you how many shooters come to Appleseed shoots with a 10/22 that they just bought at Dicks the week before!
Have I ever bought a gun at Dicks? NO.
But it really is a shame that they have made this poor decision! New shooters are the future and that's where a lot get their start.

actually, this is part of DSG problem. CEO Stack MUST invest MILLIONS of dollars into it's on line presence in order to stay competitive with Amazon. If they don't it will kill their bottom line by the end of the year, the results will be huge hit on their stock price.
So DSG is between the proverbial Rock & Hard place. At this point they don't have a choice. They ( and many other brick& mortar places) should have made this move 5 years ago.
and, this is another reason why Liz Warren wants to break up Amazon, FB and Google.

from my customer service experience at F&S, they won't give a rats ass. I went in looking for a set of sites for my Glock, the 75+ year old dude behind the counter took at least 4 minutes to walk the full length of the counter, maybe 40 feet??? When he got around to me, he really didn't seem to care what I wanted and had no knowledge of the sites I was looking for, he just pointed to an isle and said "sites be over there" ?????? never went back.

I wandered into the Binghamton Dick's (the original one), looking for blackpowder odds and ends. The clerk was very nice, but all they had catered to inline muzzleloaders, and their selection was worse than the local Walmart's. He did give me a few business cards to some PA LGS's who stocked what I was looking for.

How many boycotted Dicks (lol we know there is a good joke in there) but still shopped at Field and Stream.
Not saying any one here, but you would be surprised how many people where surprised when I first told them what Dicks did way back after sandy hook and now are also boycotting Dicks and say they'll just shop at field and stream instead..
