I agree. You are screwed either way. I'm not traveling out of my way to shop across town at another store unless it's significantly cheaper that it's worth the extra price of gas.

It makes no sense to boycott one company and buy extra gas to get to another. The money I save for items I need goes to more ammo and other prep supplies.

Oh. And I'll carry at their store too.

I'm not saying I go out of my way to GO to Dick's. I'm just saying that I'm not going out of my way to avoid Dick's. ;)

If I'm at the mall for something else and I need a box of ammo for example that's cheaper than the next store 10 miles away, I'll go there armed against their wishes to buy ammo that they don't want me to carry at their store at a later date while saving a dollar.

For the record, I never go to Dick's. They aren't close enough but I bet some of you guys wake up and fill your bellies with anti gun food, drive your anti gun car filled with anti gun gas, and drive clear across town to get ammo to stick it to them and pay for the ammo with your anti gun credit card. :ROFL:

Never bought a firearm from DSG. But I bought a lot of 22 ammo when the LGS were selling it for 3X's as much! And Walmart was even cheaper! It won't go bad and it won't be any cheaper in the future! So I kind of think they supported me!

Then all of a sudden (like as in very recently at least for me) they seemed to have turned around, at least regarding handgun sales and the amount of firearms they sell (at least in the store in Melville, NY). I visited that store a few weeks ago, after not being there in about 6 months to maybe even more than a year, and while they did not have what I wanted, in as much as they have a very poor selection of gun cleaning supplies and black powder equipment and supplies, they did have a huge gun counter in their renovated store. Or should I ask, is it their store? I only noticed today, when I visited again, that the outside shows the right half of the store as Dick's and the left side as Field And Stream but the inside of both sides is just one big store.

Is it like this in all of their stores now? Are they changing like this nationally? Have they merged with Field and Stream? Has Field & Stream taken over Dick's? Is it all one and the same company using two names? Is it something truly new or is it just the corporate types at Dick's realizing that the outdoorsy culture in America (shooters, hunters, fishermen), even in NYS, is alive and well and they had better appease what was their original customer base if they want to stay in business?

I'm guessing Cabela's and Gander at their lunch? I haven't seen a Dicks or a Hermans in a million years. And that's OK because Gander is the cat's meow.
