Did I mess up my bore? Jb weld story

So I was working on a stock of mine. I was doing a little filling work with jb weld.


I'm very tired. Next thing I know, I've got jb weld on the muzzle somehow. I immediately wiped it all off with towels, then wiped the whole area again and again with acetone unitl I couldn't see anything more and paper towels were clean. I never saw any in the bore, but I acetone the end of that too, then dry, then ran a bore snake, then acetone again, then some oil.


My question is, is this sufficient or do I need to bore scope? Replace the barrel out of extreme caution?

I am pretty familiar with JB Weld (have gotten it on many different surfaces) and I can say with almost certainty that so long as it was uncured & wet, your cleanup efforts were fine and you should have no issues.

It was only about 5 minutes mixed at this point.

It was the 4 hour set time formula. I had it cleaned out within 20 minutes or less of mixing it. I had it cleaned up immediately ok the rifle.

Does a visual inspection of the bore show you did get it all? I would think if your sure you got it all you should be good. Scary I Know!!!!!

Bore looks completely clean. I'm not sure any even really made it in at all. I think it's possible only a dab the side of a pin head was on the outside of the crown.

I actually had a finger of a nitrile glove in the end of the bore. I'm realizing the likelihood anything made it inside is pretty small. There was a little epoxy on the glove itself but as long as I don't see anything on the crown tonight it should be ok.

My nephew just caught a rock bass today and a hook was coming out of its ass. I was able to work it out and not i jute the fish anymore, but damn it smell horrible so I’m not sure if it had an infection or not.

It looks you cleaned well so no issues.
Even a film of it orbspeck of it will be destroyed by 50k psi.jb weld blows away after 5-6k psi.
So as soon as you dont have a jd weld plug in there the first few rounds will obliterate any paint, epoxy or what ever.
But it doesn't look like you even left any molecules in there.
Like others said as soon as it is fresh and wet is also pretty forgiving.

That's a very good thing to have around anything firearms. I have seen folks who are not skilled and qualified to handle firearms but they do it anyway.
People who would probably get rejected to fly airplanes or operate dangerous machinery.
What to do with those folks that you see at the ranges too sometimes?
Better just leave the place.

I'm part of a small town sportsman's club. Thankfully I'm almost always there alone. I'm not super fun to shoot with anyway. Shoot, check target, shoot, check, adjust, check...yea I'm not much of a dirt clod shooter.
