Didnt think anyone could be worse than NYC when it came to CCWs

Connecticut was like "hold my beer" when it comes to lack of information or getting a hold of a person to get proper information.

The initial application process for the out of state CCW was a tad bit annoying. The only way to get the packet was by emailing them a request for the packet via snail mail.

The paperwork was all straight forward. I submitted the paperwork via snail mail. Within two weeks, I got an email from their criminal background check division. It said that my finger print card was no good due to - "too much moisture."

The email had a barcode and number on it with very basic instructions. There was no information on where it had to be mailed to or who/where to attention it to.

When I called up the CT state finger printing division, their automated system was broken. When selecting the correct prompt, the system said incorrect selection and would hang up. After two hours of getting bounced around different departments, i finally got a hold of someone who was able to give me the correct information.

NYPD may not pick up their phones 95% of the time. but at least all their paperwork and instructions are thorough with all of the necessary information.

I let mine expire several years back as i was too busy at work, wish i didnt because I dont feel like going through it all again.

Only saving grace about CT, is that they have a maximum of 8 weeks to approve or deny.

When I did mine I had my local sheriffs department do my prints . They just have to be ink not electronic.

CT is painless compared to NY. They do however like to play the fingerprint game often.

My sister and her husband both have Connecticut, AND Massachusetts, CCP. It took them a couple years to get them.

Unless you have a Connecticut CCP. you can't buy ammo. I had to have my BIL buy me a box of 410. stupid, just stupid

As a firearms instructor, and someone who helps people with the process, I find Nassau and Westchester to easily be the worst county in the country for a CCW permit. Nassau for always doing the most, and Westchester for their waiting games.

I had luck calling CT on the phone to get a packet, came really quickly after my call

CT is a stickler for fingerprinting so be prepared for a rejection (mine was, even though it was done by NYS troopers in Wappingers Falls “too much ink”). I eventually got them done at CT troopers in Middletown CT when I finalized my non/res CT permit. It’s worth the effort to be able to buy ammo in CT. Good Luck

Just think.... At least CT (as cumbersome as their process is) issues to out of staters.

Stop by any State Trooper Barracks (NY) and they'll do your fingerprints for free! When an LEO signs the card, I'm sure they'll approve it.

Is a shame, CT used to be fairly straightforward and easy for a non-resident. Guess they don't want to be so free with them any longer.

In Erie county you have to pay $100 for a digital finger print service through a specific program they tell you to go to.

Connecticut passed a law banning FOA requests for the release of the Newtown school video. If anything was going to make their case it would have been that video but it is against State law to release it.

Nothing is beyond them. Rules for thee not for me.

They can't be trusted with any political power. The liberals have proven time and time again that power corrupts.
